RE: UFC
Was I the only one watching Joseph Benavidez v Demetrious Johnson & had a little chuckle thinking it looked like midget MMA, they made the ref look 7ft tall. Big Laugh

Bisping looked good & composed, not doing anything silly knowing the big shot could come at any point, when it did he coped well.
I think he'll get his shot now but will have to do a bit more to beat Silva.

Vitor put in a poor show, I thought & hoped he'd be better than that, it was the same against Anderson Silva, I hope he's not going down the same road as Wanderlei Silva!

I watched the first ep of TUF: Australian v UK last night, the first fight was piss poor & I'm not sure how he lost given the punch didn't look that big. I've not seen the US one yet.

RE: UFC
I'd really like someone to give me a good explanation why Michael Bisping deserves a title shot?

He decisions Brian Stann (a fighter far closer to the bottom of the Top 10 than the top), before that he lost to Sonnen, beat Mayhem Miller (who has a mightily impressive 0-3 record in the UFC), beat a journeyman in Jorge Rivera (and could easily have been DQ'ed in that fight) and had decisions over Akiyama (who has really set the UFC alight!) and a mid-level fighter in Dan Miller. I don't see how a one fight winning streak over a guy like Stann is enough to earn someone a shot.

RE: UFC
Michael Bisping

UFC record 13-4 (23-4 overall) KO/TKO 8, decision 5, losses 1 KO 3 decisions.

His split decision win over Matt Hamill should've gone the other way but so should his obnoxious unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen a fighter who's UFC record is 5-2 two of those fights were for the UFC middleweight title.
He lost a close split decision to Rashad Evans a man who went on to win the UFC light heavyweight title & most think his unanimous decision loss to Wanderlei Silva could've been different if it wasn't for a last minute take down (I think, I can't remember). He also dominated a dangerous Chris Leben. His decision over Yoshihiro Akiyama was Akiyama's 3rd loss in 18 fights.

For a fighter who doesn't have a defining skill his record is very good & his skill set have improved with every fight of his 6 years in the UFC. I can't remember what it was but on Saturday Joe Rogan was saying Bisping now has one of the top 3 (I think) significant striking rates in the UFC.
Before Saturday: Significant strikes landed per min 4.57, significant striking defence 70%

Anderson Silva has defended his title against.

Chael Sonnen x2
Yushin Okami
Demian Maia
Thales Leites
Patrick Côté
James Irvin
Travis Lutter

He'll make his 14th defence against Stephan Bonnar on October 13th.

Why shouldn't Michael Bisping get a shot at the UFC middleweight title......

RE: UFC
Why shouldn't Bisping get a title shot?

As stated, because he has only beaten one Top 10 fighter (in Stann) and the majority of his UFC wins have been racked up against low to mid-level fighters (Haynes, Sinosic, McCarthy, Day, Dan Miller, Rivera, Mayhem etc). Yeah, Leben is dangerous but Bisping boxed his way to a decision in that one, and Leben had so much disdain for his power that he just dropped his hands and let Bisping tee off on him at one point. Kang has never been the same fighter since Shelby Walker OD'd, and truth is whenever Bisping has fought an opponent of quality he has lost (Rashad, Hendo, Wanderlei). If he was to rack up some more wins over say a Belcher, a Munoz, a Boetsch, a Belfort even an Okami I'd say he is due, just at the moment there is not a way he deserves a shot over Weidman who has already defeated a higher level of opponent (in both Maia and Munoz) than Bisping ever has.

BTW, the Irvin fight was not for the title and neither will the Bonnar one be.

RE: UFC
It just means the 75th event. I think it's up to 152 now.

Chuck Norris has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). the virus is now in quarantine for 14 days.
