Halo 4

its out today, anyone got it yet?

Just got it and played it for a few hour or so. First impressions are wow, amazing, frantic. Gameplay is superb. You really get thrown in at the deep end with waves of covenant troops attacking but it's so much fun. The developers are a new outfit called 343 who have taken over from Bungie and my first impressions are what a great job they have made. Visually the game play looks almost next gen. The storyline so far looks interesting and is set 4 years after the Halo event. Early days yet but I get the same feeling I got when I played the original Halo. The eagerly anticipated Black Ops 2 has some serious 1st person shooter competition

got it now and i too am enjoying it. have just done the first misson and you are thrown right in at the deep end with no easing into the game at all. very good graphics, very good sound effects, very good action and a very good storyline

the new people behind it have done a fantatsic job and hope there is a halo 5 in the future

Its the first of a new trilogy, so you are guaranteed at least another 2 games.

Think it's guaranteed. The new developers, 343 were given an enormous amount of money by MS. They are a new entity but utilising several ex-employees of Bungie who worked on the original Halo.
I would go so far as to say Halo 4 reminds me of the original game. That feeling of hectic firefights and enemies coming at you from all over. The moody, but picturesque representation of strange planets. Something that seemed to be slightly lacking in the other games.
From what I have read 343 live, eat and dream Halo and are not working on anything else as there are 10 episodic weekly DLC's for online players that form a seperate campaign that they are releasing.
As the storyline develops the game just gets more and more immersive. Best FSP for me since Crysis 2.

343 did an excellent job. I haven't had much of time to devote to the multiplayer yet, but the campaign was one of the best in the series, capturing that feel of discovery that I've missed since CE. It certainly helped that the presentation and plot were surprisingly good.
