RE: Roy Jones Jr Vs Joe Calzaghe
gingerbloke Wrote:mega79 Wrote:Was'nt worth watching, Jones Jr looked good in the first two rounds even putting calzaghe on the canvas, but after that father time had clearly caught up with him and he had nothing left.
Calzaghe is a great fighter i just wished he had'nt waited till Jones and Hopkins were in their 40's before fighting them.
Its sad seeing once great fighters like Jones Jr, Mike Tyson, Ken Shamrock ( MMA ), Tank Abott ( lol ) get treated like walking punchbags by guys they would have wiped the floor with in their prime.
Roy "sliky" Jones is only 39 yrs old thats 3 yrs older than Joe Sheep Shagger so to say the hands of time got to him is crap, plus I watched the fight and to be honest I thought Jones was just happy to take the money. But what really pissed me off was at the end of the fight Calzaghe spoke and said thanks to all of fans from wales for going out there to support him what about all the other brits that have spent a fortune over his career without mentioning the last two in vegas and new york what a total cockend doesn't deserve any fans.
Saying Jones is only 3 years older than calzaghe and that does not make a difference is bullshit.
If you know anything about boxing or have watched jones for the past 15 years you would know Jones is way past his best,
the fact that in the past 5 years he put on weight to go up to win a Heavyweight title, than lost weight to get back down to light heavy, was brutally knocked out twice by Glencoff Johnson and Antonio Tarver ( 2 guys calzaghe avoided like the plague ) has a huge effect on any fighter.
Calzaghe has had it very easy for the past 10 years.
In case you did not know not all people are equal, Teddy sheringham went on to play football up until he was 42 many other footballers are finished by the age of 35.
saying he went in there for the money is a stupid comment, no fighter epecially one who has had a great career and been champion at Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight
would step into the ring to lose.
I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
