It somewhat annoys me when people come out with the, Oh Gerrard won the European Cup on his own. Dudek's save from Shevchenko, & penalies, Traoré I think pulled one off the line. The whole team in Turin & Igor 'Biscanbul' Bišćan away at Deportivo & then that game against Olympiacos, where Rafa Benítez brought on Florent Sinama Pongolle at halftime only for him to make it 1-1 50 seconds later, "Managers change games" ~ Andy Gray, Benitez then followed that up by bringing on Neil Mellor who moments later saw a Sinima Pongolle cross met by Antonio Núñez who's header rebounded to Mellor 2-1.
No one ever seems to gives Benítez, Sinima Pongolle or Mellor any credit for that game. It was Neil Mellor's "Lovely cushioned header for Gerraaaard" that made that strike possible.
If Rafael Benítez wants to take a little bit of credit for that game he's well within his rights to do so..... Yes he should also give public praise to Florent Sinama Pongolle & Neil Mellor also.

Gerrard said if he scored a hat trick and did 98 good things in a game and 2 bad things, Rafa would pull him and talk for ten minutes about the 2 bad things, with no mention of the hat trick or 98 good things. He was "Gobsmacked" and thought Benitez had something against him at first.
Rafa's a good tactician but his man management is non existent and he's done the dirty by joining Chelsea. Wish him all the best in his private life but not on the pitch with Chelsea.
If a manager is picking out the 2 bad things from a near perfect performance then he's just trying to improve an almost unimprovable player which Gerrard was at some stages of thoses years.
I wouldn't say he's done the dirty, he's been out of the game long enough & just wants to get back into it in the Premier League with a team who's able to challenge for it. As I said I'd rather he went to Tottenham (He may in the summer) or Arsenal but Chelsea came in first, & yeah I agree I hope they win fuckall.
It's just a job, that's why the Chelsea fans will come round to him, I can't remember who it was but yesterday one of our ex players was saying would we act the same if José Mourinho rocked up at Anfield, his answer was no, Chelsea fans may say he's been dirty but we wouldn't care about him telling us to shhh!.

Well I just read something on the BBC website and it says Chelsea fans will continue to boo Benitez as long as he is in charge according to the chair of Chelsea Supporter's Group.

Of course mate. Those lads played their part, they done brilliant and made an impact for us. They're fondly remembered for it and get plenty of credit for me. Neil Mellor says someone mentions the goal to him every day! Rafa set the team up, gave his instructions and made the changes, so he takes credit as well. It was a brilliant effort to win that trophy in his first season in town. That's why he's on flags all over the Kop with Shanks, Paisley, Fagan and The King.
Stevie didn't win us the eurpean cup on his own, his team mates and manager all played their part, but had any other player on the planet been wearing our number 8 jersey that season, and i mean anyone, we wouldn't have won it. Same goes for the West Ham final in Cardiff.
That's the reason i said that without Gerrard the Benitez era would've been trophyless. No European Cup = No Super Cup. No FA Cup = No Charity Shield. I'm not saying it to have a dig at Rafa, it's just what i believe. Nobody got behind the lad more than me when he was in charge.
When i saw the way he was treated the other day, i felt for him and was pissed off to be fair but then again we all expected it. He'll never have what he had with us down at Stamford Bridge, inside he knows that. I think he'll sit himself down when he's done there and regret it. If he's still there when they come up to Anfield, that's when it'll hit him. He's gone Chelsea, i don't like it, but he'll get a proper welcome on our touchline, one he deserves.

Not a fair comparison I don't think, was listening to TalkSport yesterday and they brought up the point of how would LFC fans react if Gary Neville took over at Anfield? (after having mixed success at managing a few clubs previously). That's a fairer comparison in my book. And if the answer's still no, then fair play to you.

That will be a surreal experience...Chelsea fans booing Rafa, and Liverpool fans cheering for him
(Just for the record I did feel sorry for him getting that reception, especially when he was talking to Geoff Shreeves, don't like anyone at our club getting booed by our own fans, despite my feelings about him being at Chelsea)

That doesn't surprise me, this mentality of a majority of Chelsea fans has been apparent during the Abramovic era.

Got to be honest, it annoys me when people say this as it's a little unrealistic as we'll never know. As we seem to on occasions we'll agree to disagree.

Why not, Rafa was managing us & said what he said about Chelsea & Mourinho was managing you when he told us to shhh. As much as I don't want him here & thats nothing to do with his time at Chelsea but if Mourinho was to become our manager then so be it.
Gary fuckin Neville!!! thats a different kettle of Piranhas if I ever saw one boiling. If your saying you hate I'll say it again HATE!!! Rafa that much then I'll take your point.
