What's with all this shit that every companion has to fancy and snog the doctor these days?

I know - I'm getting racked off with this lovey dovey stuff. For me it's not what Doctor Who is about, and not why I became such a big fan in the first place.

The only issue I have with Matt Smith's series is the bloody romance! I had enough of the Amy Pond/Rory marriage (and quite frankly I'm glad to see the back of those two), but the Doctor's marriage to River Song is fucking cringeworthy. I think Smith's really good in the role (although not a patch on David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston or Peter Davison) but for christ sake enough of the romance - change the bloody record already!

Only caught the last half of the Christmas episode...what the fuck was that all about?
Dr Who these days seems to consist of underwhelming, nonsense plots, aimless running around and over reliance of the sonic screw driver. Still, bring on the new series!

Did Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee fall in love with their assistants? No they fucking didn't.(at least not on screen)
I like an attractive assistant as much as the next man but I just wish the Doctor would stick to fighting Daleks

OK, since when did the sontaran become the comedy sidekick? those things scared the living daylights out of me when I was a kid.
