RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I highly recommend the classic film Robocop on blu ray, for this review it will be based on the steel book version. Another one of the fav classic films not only greatly acted but in story was strong it slowly went down hill with the next two films, Robocop 2 wasn't a bad film but not a patch on the first one and as for the third film oh dear. I don't have high hopes for the remake but i'll give a chance when it comes out next year.
The steel book is beautiful on the front of case you get a great image of Robocop with title of the film embossed, on the back of the case another great image of Robocop and ED-209 and the inside art is scene from the film featuring Dick Jones and ED-209 again i can't say this highly enough a beautiful steel book.
The picture quality is a bit of a mixed bag here although its a 1080p transfer theres a bit of grain throughout the film especially in the daylight, i heard the reason why the transfer isn't so great is back in day they used cheap film so over the years the negatives started degrade, its different worth upgrading from dvd to blu ray just don't expect it to look crystal clear.
As for the sound its really good and does sound better then ever, you hear the actors lines and even some lines that i didn't hear on the dvd version thanks to it being so crystal clear now.
As for the extras its a bit of a disappointment the dvd and box set versions had a lot more, you get no digital copy here, you do get a dvd copy of the film and the blu ray and dvd of the film are the directors cut version, would i say its worth picking up hell yes, classic film, good looking steel book and in the words of Robocop, "Your Move Creep" lol.

Four the Batman film will be now coming out as steel books on the 3rd June, these films will Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Begins and Batman: The Dark Knight. All these films are limited edition and on zavvi for £15.99 each, Amazon currently have them cheeper at £12.59. Another classic film coming out on the same day in steel book form is the classic film Commando at £14.99 and is a Zavvi exclusive. Zavvi seem to have taken over from Play.com for the place to get steel books.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
Just ordered the Die Hard Quadrilogy (with Bonus Disc) blu ray boxset from Sainsburys online for ten pounds not bad for for 5 discs, i have the Die Hard 3 steel book which i will put down and look after. For that price its a great deal the only down side is Die Hard 4.0 is still cut version but its all good considering some sites are still selling it for between £25 - £40, theres another version of the boxset coming out including Die Hard 5 for £40 but when you look it out its actually cheaper to buy this boxset for a tenner and then buy Die Hard 5 on its own and it still works out much cheaper. Will put up a full review when i receive it.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
Just got the new steel book version of the original Starwars trilogy. Only watched A New Hope so far, but wow. The film quality makes it look like a brand new film....certainly not one that is 35 years old. The sound is immense through the 5.1 system. The artwork, for those interested is very nice and I can see why people collect steelbooks. Sadly you only get the 1997 updated version, a real shame they did not include the original unadulterated cinematic version too though it's not really a hardship. Extras on the first disc are a bit light with just a documentary and an archived commentary with the cast. Will give a further review on other extras once I have watched all three discs. Oh to be young againBig Grin

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I highly recommend The Die Hard Quadrilogy on blu ray, the Die Hard films have always been my fav films going up and having them on dvd i thought it was well worth the upgrade to blu ray.
Starting off with Die Hard out of all of them my fav of the Die Hards, Alan Rickman as the bad guy was great and was up there as one of the best screen villains, As film transfer goes this looks great its a lot more detailed and crisp and colours a lot more deep and rich, there a few signs of grain here and there but thats probably just to do with the age and film stock. Apart from that its way better then dvd version, the sound as well has been given a massive upgrade and things sound a lot more impressive and detailed. Its also a lot easier to hear things and things blowing up too. Where its a little disappointing is that theres not a lot extras there were on the dvd special edition so where they've disappeared too i don't know and it would have nice to have a digital copy too.
Now we come to Die Hard 2, a few people i known were disappointed with the second one although the bad guy isn't as good as the first one it still had the action and one liners. The picture quality is with the first one is very good and way better then the dvd version when there is light areas in the film you can see some grain here and there again probably due to age of the film, the sound is a great improvement over the dvd version and is very impressive. Again with the extras a lil disappointing when you compare it to the dvd special edition and no digital copy.
Die Hard With A Vengeance was great film and great bad guy played by Jeremy Irons and a great double act with Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. What makes this blu ray extra special is that for the first time in U.K its the Uncut version and its lot different to the previous versions including the dvd version. The picture is lot better then the last two probably to due the film being a lot a newer, for the most part its crystal clear there is a tiny bit of grain but nothing much to ruin the film. the images always look highly detailed and colours rich a pretty good transfer. The sound quality the previous two films is great, extras theres a whole load to watch again no digital copy.
Die Hard 4.0 better then i expected it to be great action and one liners, now theres a little disappointment with the blu ray version is that its the cinema cut of the film not the harder cut of film which was on the 2 disc dvd version. The picture quality on this film is the best of the lot its totally crystal clear no grain in sight on the transfer everything is look highly detailed even when the action on screen is fast paced, colours and shading on the film look stunning. The sound quality is stunning, crystal clear simply amazing. As for extras there's a load here plus you get a extra 5th disc with even more extras again no digital copy.
Would i say this box set is worth it hell yes, Die Hard 3 uncut but the downside Die Hard 4.0 is cut but you get 5 discs for ten pounds in my view a bloody bargain seeing as each film on its own is over 7 quid, there two versions of the box set one coming with 4 and other with 5 discs which is one i got considering some sites are selling it anything from £25 to £40 quid. Plus there releasing another version which will come with Die Hard 5 in June for £40, now if you buy the Die Hard Quadrilogy for a tenner and buy number 5 on its on its still works out cheaper lol.
If your a Die Hard fan and either have it on dvd or don't own it at all its simply must buy to have in your collection.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I recommend the blu ray film Jack Reacher, first the picture quality is stunning and totally crystal clear picture and as always 1080p transfer. The colours are deep and rich giving the images especially in action scenes a deep rich look, a very impressive transfer. The Sound quality is stunning too, the sound is processed via 5.1/DTS sound quality which really shines when played through a home cinema system. As for the extras its a little disappointing there isn't a lot here and i would have at least would have lived to seen a digital copy thrown in the blu ray which my guess there is one on the region 1 version. If your a big Tom Cruise fan and love action then its well worth having this in your collection. There was a steel book version of the film on Play.com months ago on pre-order but it sold out ages ago.

For anyone interested Sainsburys are selling the blue ray box set of The da Vinci code and Angels and Demons for £6. Can't complain at that price.
