£91,000 phone bill calling chatlines

I couldnt see Donnas comments as her tweets are only available to followers but thats interesting but im surprised he didnt get the number barred on saying that. I guess the deal is that Voda credit the station before they actually get paid

He must've came back with something like "that's illegal" because she went on to say....

@loughboroughkev it's not illegal all calls are recorded for this type of reason. #vodafone can request them at any time.

If i was a Vodafone customer i'd be livid at subsidising this complete waste of space. People have ended up with CCJ's for bills of a few hundred from these companies and this loser gets away with the best part of £100K!

They wrote it off meaning Vodaphone customers and shareholders are subsidising him. If you have a pension that probably includes you.

Writing off a debt is a bookkeeping exercise, there is no reason why a written off debt cant be pursued, its just that business don’t chose to.

Most clued-up prospective employers bang any candidate's name into Google these days. Imagine what delights will come up when poor old Kevin applies for a job in the future....

I hope Vodafone have given his credit file a proper shafting too.

I'm aware how bookkeeping works, however I dont feel this is the case here, a company (Vodafone) would not have contacted the customer (Kev) (presumably in writing too) to advise the debt had been "written off" as any court would immediately have to side with the customer on production of any said documentation from the creditor which implies that the money is no longer outstanding or an invoice declared null and void if they later tried to chase the payment.

I refer back to my point in its actual context that its a very unusual situation for any company to be "writing off" a huge debt after such a short space of time and again suggesting that while our hero believes he has been told the debt has been "written off" he has possibly been told Vodafone are no longer dealing with the matter, which would mean this has probably fallen onto a 3rd party to try and secure some form of payment for even at a minimal amount each month

well he might have got away with it in terms of paying this debt off, but he will probably get in a load of trouble later on. first of all, he'll struggle to get any sort of credit (mortgage, credit card, loan etc) as im sure Vodafone will give his credit score a massive hit. secondly he'll be getting in hot water with the dwp (department of work and pensions) given he's pretty much spending all his time and a good amount of his benefit calling the babeshows and on the internet instead of seeking work. they are quite keen on checking that you are seeking work and seeing this in the papers im sure will get the dwp checking him out

then of course he'll be getting harassed etc in the street too

I suspect it will be Vodafone that gets the migraine now, when he passes the shop

If they have written the debt off completely, it can surely only be to avoid any more bad publicity. Therefore you would think there would be some kind of confidentiality clause involved which would prevent him tweeting about it, or posting vids on Youtube.
