RE: Football Banter
I don't think Mourinho is the right fit for Man United as although he's a very good manager, he's far too short term and is a bit in love with himself.

Moyes is an interesting option, but I'd be wary for Man United as I'm not too sure if Moyes would be up to it.

I didn't agree with some of things Fergie said in the past, but nobody can argue with what he achieved in football. He's the reason why Man United are one of the biggest sports names in the world today. Its a sad personally as a football man because I've grow accustomed with seeing Fergie at Man United and its sad as well that we probably won't see another manager like Fergie spend so long at a club.

great point about mourinho dan, hes short term I think exactly the same. and I also heard somewhere but cant find the stats that david moyes record against the top teams away from home is shocking. I might be wrong but don't think hes ever won away at any of the top teams in the league!

have your own opinion, lead dont follow.

Your're right that Moyes has not won away against any of the biggest teams in the league. I think its 50 games without an away win against them. Moyes is a good manager there is no doubt about that and would be a long term option, but I'm not sure he can cope with such high expectations at Man United or bring Man United closer to the likes of Bayern Munich.

I think managers like De Boer or Simeone would be better options. Klopp would be a great manager for Man United also, but he won't leave Dortmund.

This made me laugh:
"First Thatcher dies, then Fergie retires.... somewhere there's a scouser with a lamp and one wish left" laugh

Seriously though I'm actually kinda gutted about Fergie retiring, English football won't be the same without him (although minor bragging rights in that there's a decent chance Chelsea would be the last team to beat Fergie's United! Big Grin)

Unfortunately I can see Mourinho going there over Moyes

RE: Football Banter
However we feel personally about Sir Alex Ferguson, or about Manchester United, and I know he's not a lot of people's favourite, as fans of the game itself we still have to admire the success he's brought to the club. Of course having multi millionaire owners helps but its not all about money. His will to keep winning and long service to the club has to be commended. Longevity in a manager's position is a relatively rare commodity these days. With his record of success and committed service to the club, he has to be up there with the best managers ever.

As for the replacement - Moyes or Mourinho are probably the favourites. Just to put the cat among the pigeons, if Mancini (as rumoured) is to be leaving City in the Summer, he'd be available for a hop across Manchester. He won't though - or would he...? Wink

The tributes continue to pour in for Sir Alex..

"he was the best Manager I ever worked for" said Premier League Referee Howard Webb.
