well done brazil, i am half italian and i think buffon should be dropped, in fact i thought he was past his best before this tournament started, even though he is 35 which is not very old for a keeper he has been around for to long and now it's time for a new keeper to come in

He has been quite bad form this whole season, he made some silly mistake in league and CL now this tournament, De Sanctis should be first choice now I think.

They should still keep Buffon in the squad but let whoever their number 2 is have a run in the team especially the friendlies/qualifiers leading up to the World Cup, also they got a 1-1 draw against Spain last year by playing 3-5-2 formation so they should do the same again to have a chance. Kinda baffled that they started diamanti rather than el sharaawy

Neymar deserves all the credit but i just wanna see how he does against Spain.

I think Sirigu is Italian so maybe he should start or Marchetti?, I think he may be younger.

If Italy drop Buffon then their is no point replacing him with De Sanctis as he is 36 now.

They should maybe give Salvatore Sirigu of PSG a go in the first team.

Italy tend to always have great goalkeepers, so they should have no problem replacing Buffon.

tbh i haven't seen much of Singu, i know PSG kept plenty of clean sheets last season but how much was that down to him? i would say give him a chance in the world cup qualifiers not just in friendly games, i doubt he will play in the next game against spain

I think this competition has been fascinating to watch, although I fear Tahiti will get well spanked again tonight which to me sums up how much they have brought to the competition. But Brazil look more likely the winners and I would say it's got to be Brazil V Spain for the Final. Even if Brazil win it, I think their main problem now is getting good games behind them after this in their build up to next year and even so, I don't think even winning this is going to do very much to quell the protests going on atm. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this time next year, the protests are still going on and if they are, at what point would FIFA be quick in moving the finals if the situation there, worsened? If they did, could England step into the breach at short notice?

I doubt anyone could step in at the last minute. It's not just a matter of the stadia being able to cope. It takes years of planning to get the infrastructure in place. All would need meticulous planning, from the transport and access systems, the crowd control, the extra accommodation, both for fans and teams to setting up all the media requirements.
I am sure Brazil will still host a fine World Cup next year. There is too much big money from around the world involved for it not to...unless the whole country rises up in revolution!
