Not sure what to think about Weidman beating Silva the way he did the other night. I think it's good for the division, it opens it up again, but....

When somebody has a reign like Silva did, then, when he loses you want the guy that beats him to actually BEAT him. Like GSP and Hughes years ago. That then says he's the man, ''to be the man, you gotta beat the man'' and all that but it kinda felt like Silva was just clowning around and got caught, like it could of been anybody in that cage on that night and they would now be the MW Champion. I would of preferred Weidman to go out there do decent on his feet, then take Silva down and beat him up on the ground and just be better than him, WIN the fight. Feels like Silva lost the fight rather than the other way around to me.

Plus no rematch it seems, which would of been so much bigger the next time!
At least the division is wide open now though, that's a good thing.

wiedman clearly won the first round and rattled silva on the ground thats y he started clowning round when he got back up in the first. he is a legend but i luved it when he got tagged, hes disrepected a few fighters doing it b4 im glad he got caught this time, he might learn a lesson and bit more respect.

Yeah, definitely won the first round. But in the 2nd when Silva started clowning around it was starting to look like the many other Silva fights, it would of been good to see Weidman re-take control of the round regardless of Silva and beat him his way then, more convincingly than what happened. That would of been more of a statement, it would of made it more definitive.

The division is wide open now though and that is a good thing - Will Weidman prove to be THE MAN now or will the belt be passed around for a while? Looking forward to finding out!

I would think any chance of Bisping fighting for the title for this year has probably gone after Anderson's loss. Still it would be nice to see if they can put the two together in a contest and if so, I would probably Bisping would be out of his depth against him. But what a way to throw away a 16-0 record and the longest unbeaten run in UFC!! If I was him I would never have turned down a rematch so quickly. I would say the earliest Bisping would get a title shot would be sometime in the spring next year (unless I'm wrong).

I would say Wiedman has something to prove & show his win over Anderson was no fluke.

Anderson Silva's still the greatest of all time, he did in the Weidman fight what he always does. Weidman just caught him and finished him this time.

Weidman couldn't have done any more in the fight for me. He won the first round, came out in the second to typical Anderson Silva antics, sussed him out, then knocked him out. He looked brilliant from where I was sat.



Weidman's a terrible guy for Anderson Silva to fight. He can take Silva down like he did in the first round, beat him on the ground, has the ability and power to strike with him on the feet and knock him out. I said it the other day, he's a nightmare for Silva.

Dana White thinks Silva will be desperate to get the belt back, so a rematch looks likely. He thinks it could be bigger than a Silva/GSP/Jones super fight... I always watch the post fight presser's and White's post fight media scrum, quality stuff to watch! I'll post them up on here from now on.

He's the man alright, the lad's a monster! The middleweight Cain Velasquez. He'll beat Silva again in the rematch, any way he likes for me. Anderson Silva is 38 years old, an unbelievable master of a fighter, a one of a kind legend but he's getting on now. Like I said before, the only way he beats Weidman is if he lands one of his lightening, out of this world strikes.

Weidman's gonna be the champ for years i reckon.

I think if Silva didn't clown around and could keep the fight standing (big ask, obviously!) then he would beat Weidman in a rematch. That was the question for me this time, could he keep it standing, he couldn't in the first round but he did in the second and stuffed a takedown but then clowned around and got caught, just when it was really getting interesting! He only has himself to blame.

Stylistically, anybody that can keep it standing with Weidman for a good amount of time and is good on the feet themselves will have a chance. NO CLOWNING! Lol. Not saying Weidman is BAD standing but he is not GREAT either and that is your best chance to beat him. If Weidman gets top control - you're screwed! Cain and Weidman are very similar but i think Cain is a better standup fighter than Weidman is although Weidman has better BJJ.

Yeah I totally agree, it does feel cheap, if I was Weidman looking back after all the surprise has died down I'd feel a little cheated.

Again totally agree, it's about time he got caught doing this shit!

I've just watched the fight & after the first round was sat thinking, I wish I'd watched it on Saturday night as I'd now be placing a bet of Weidman by KO/TKO it was that obvious, he had 4 rounds to do it.

Like Crayzion says it could've been any fighter in there that night. The way he was leaning back it wasn't possible for him to adjust his feet. I do think he probably would've beat Weidman if he'd have stayed on the attack, for a split second you could see the shock on Weidman's face.

I have a lot of respect & at the same time total lack of, but I'm not sure which one goes with which, Anderson Silva the fighter/Anderson Silva the man

Don't agree with the "it could've been any fighter" argument.

Silva acts like that in every fight, he tries to get into his opponents head, tries to lure you in and then he'll strike... Bang!! Lights out, good night. Most people freeze in front of Anderson, they're scared of what he could do to them, overawed by him, star struck even.

Not Chris Weidman.

He said in the post fight presser, when Silva carried on his antics in round 2, he said "I'm going for it". He took the step that 17 men before him couldn't, put the thought of what Silva could do to him out his mind and knocked him out. I thought it was brilliant.

Weidman said all along the only thing that could beat him when he fought Anderson Silva was himself. The lad was right.
