I know it used to be banned in the Video Recordings Act of 1984, which was then later proved to be not worth the paper it was written on so it was rushed through parliament again.

However, whether to allow R18 broadcasting was definitely part of the pre-Ofcom consultation, so it was clearly an option at that point.

And the only current reference I can find about R18 broadcasting is within the Ofcom where it simply states "R18 may not be broadcast"

I am aware that there exist restirictions in British Law on the mail order of R18 DVDs (illegal) and the selling of R18 DVDs outside licensed sex shops (illegal), but obviously R18 magazines ARE legally available from any newsagent, and a few of the ones in my local newsagent have included free DVDs that genuinely were R18 (slipped through as foreign mag imports I believe).

But I haven't found any current law that prohibits R18 broadcasts, which are obviously not the same as R18 DVDs.

Confusing bloody country we live in - you can buy R18 mags anywhere, R18 DVDs only in licensed shops, and R18 TV not at all!

Is there any other product whose ownership is done in so many different ways?

As far as i know the law concerning R18 material is the same as it's been for years .
The law states anything classified as R18 can only be viewed at licensed adult cinema's or sold at licensed sex shops to age verified adults
The BBFC are the ones responsible for classifying films, DVD's, video games etc, they are the ones that classify material R18, 18, 15, 12, PG, U etc,,( i don't think they classify mags) but there is no classification on live TV shows, that's when Ofcom imo abuse their powers in deciding if channel have broken rules and showed R18 material, the BBFC are qualified to determine classifications Ofcom arn't, if Ofcom were qualified to classify material then there would be no need for the BBFC .
This is were NICAM the Dutch regulator is different, NICAM classify material like the BBFC and regulate TV programs as well .

Might be a bit out of context with this.

But I am watching geri and ? at the moment on 173 freeview and to me it is no different to watching babestationx when I paid for it.

The osgs are still the same (they haven`t listened)

I can only suggest that the rest of babestation has only a very limited time before it`s demise.

The reason that we have lost Babestationx is because the producers,cameramen and the boring models that were promoted,were a load of codswallop.

If anyone on here can tell me differently,then please state your case.

I understand that Ofcom don't classify the material. What I don't get is why it was included in the Ofcom consultation in the first place if it is still illegal?

Well I reckon that seeing as the live shows are no more, anyone who has video of them should be allowed to post now, or the footage may be lost forever!

The live shows still exist as they are going to continue as web only broadcasts, plus they are apparently streaming highlights on the web of previous live shows too of which all the footage still exists.

really?? I read the producers blog which states that the live shows are no more!!??!?
