Our chief exec told Arsenal a week or so ago that £40m wasn't even close to what the club would accept for Suarez. So for me, to come back in with the £40m plus £1 knowing it would force us to inform the player is quite poor coming from a club like that.
If Arsenal wanted Suarez badly, were determined to sign him, i think a phone call asking us what we wanted for him and then a clean cash offer would have done the job.
John Henry's tweet, Rodgers saying the bid hasn't even been discussed... I don't think we'll sell to Arsenal now.
Rodgers on Arsenal:
"If Arsenal want the player, then they have to produce the value for the player," Rodgers said. "There was an offer two weeks ago of £35m. Two weeks later it is now £40m and £1 – I don't think it is anywhere near what he is worth. But it is two-fold, really. A player may want to go but then somebody has to pay the value of that player. It is not something we want to run on too long. It is something that can't run on too long and [the end of] that period will come soon."
On Suarez display against in Melbourne:
“He was okay to go on to the pitch and his concentration was fine.
“I am not worried about him (in that sense), but there will be no games played at Liverpool. He is part of the group and he knows the standard you have to meet at this club, on and off the field.
“After a long flight and then double training sessions Monday and Tuesday and then the game he's just a wee bit weary.”
So impressed with Rodgers.

Hopefully Madrid spend the higuain money on Suarez.
Arsenal are not even half the club of Liverpool and have a long way to go until they ever will be. Would Arsenal ever get this.......
No... never... especially in a country other side of the world.
Also like The Truth say and G&P, Suarez reaction after Aspas score was disgusting
Can't wait until he goes. All the support we have given him the fans and the club, Kenny Dalglish put himeself on the line for him and Rodgers has do the same and this is what he give back?
Great player or not I hope he goes, just hope we get 50m or more for him. What happen to his dream of play for LFC? he is full of rubbish.
that maybe true you are a bigger club than arsenal and have a better fan base, but over the last twenty years or so they have finished above Liverpool in the prem quite a few times,
what do you measure a size of a club on though? trophies, who finishes higher in the league or fan base. chelsea have won lots of trophies in the last 10 years but people still don't see them anywhere near as big as man utd, liverpool, ac milan, barcelona and real madrid cos they have shit fans
so if suarez goes to arsenal he is going to a potentially better team but a smaller club
I would not say Arsenal are a better team than Liverpool at all, I would say over the last years you have been more Consistant as you have only have 1 manager and he has had time to get the club how he like, Now we have Rodgers and owners that are supporting him and fully behind him I think we will be back where LFC belong in the Champions League.
Also we are not that far behind you now. If you compare squads there is hardly a difference.
what? im not a gooner lol, but its a fact arsenal have done better than you in the prem over the last twenty years including last season, yes you may finish higher than them this season but this season hasn't happened yet and on paper your squad may be match for match with them in your opinion but its the league table that counts at the end of the day and if they get suarez i think they have a chance of winning the league, i am not a troll and by the way im a nottingham forest supporter i don't bang on about our glory days as most of them were before i was born or i was too young to remember them in the 80s, we are just a regular championship club now even though we have great fans, its the present that counts not the past
