Im not saying that he wouldn't do that for us, i just mean if we already let him go when he was younger and he has only ever been in lower leagues then surely that buying him now to push for CL make no sense?

Maybe if he has another good season this year we can say he is one that got away?

He's not a Rodgers type, no chance he'd go for him but Lambert would score goals in any team for me. Natural finisher, good in the air, takes a good free kick...

If we didn't have Sturridge and Suarez and he could put the ball in the net like Lambert, then yes.

You could buy Lambert as an additional Striker i guess but i dont think you could buy him directly as Suarez replacement if he left.

Somebody yesterday was saying when Suarez leaves get Jordan Rhodes! You can't replace Class A with Class C+/B- if you have any kind of ambition to improve. Sounds like i'm talking drugs now!

Lambert is quality. It's wrong to measure a player by the team he currently plays for. He's a finisher like you say. With the right service he'll take most chances in any premier league team in my opinion. Obviously age isn't on his side anymore. We actually had the opportunity to sign him 3 years ago but Ken Bates the prick refused and said that he didn't think he was worth £1million!

Lol your having a laugh, Southampton challenging Spurs. Don't mention Everton and Spurs on the same level because in England the Top 5 are in a different league to the rest. Yes top 4 is regarded as the holy grail but Spurs only finished 6 points behind mega bucks city, 3 behind Chelski and 1 behind Arsenal while 9 points separated Spurs from 6th place Everton. Southampton need to concentrate on finishing in the top half of the table first and foremost

I see that Moyes is already making an excuse for his early season poor results

Southampton could get a top eight finish this season if they can improve on last season. They have a few decent players and a decent manager. I did not say they were on a par with Spurs but could be one of the upper mid table teams outside of the usual top four. Who gets placed where rather depends on how each team play during the season. Spurs have a chance of breaking into the top four for sure. The season promises to be a closer battle this time round
