RE: Liverpool FC
Im not bothered how much a player costs either, thats not my problem, Porto sign players for even half the price of Coutinho, when we sign Falcao, Moutinho, Rodriguez, Meireles, Guarin, Aly Cissokho, Bosingwa, Deco, Maniche, Carvalho, Quaresma, Lucho Gonzalez, Alvaro Pereira, Anderson, Lisandro Lopez.... all these players we sign for under 10m euros many under 5m euros, so price does not bother me.
The problem that I have is how long it actually take us to sign a player, not the cost. With Cissokho he is only a loan signing and took us almost a month to get it done... and when we are willing to spend bigger money on a player we let the whole world know and hang about almost waiting for a bigger team to come in and sign them before us.
We need to act faster and keep our buisness more quiet like Porto do.... Porto have sold our big names and made massive profit also but already had replacement lined up in Herrera who cost us 8m from Pachuca...

RE: Liverpool FC
Although i agree with what groundnpound said, prices do get crazy and some of these players are not worth this money, there is also a danger you end up like Wenger though. NOT that Liverpool are, i'm just saying there is a danger of it.
Coutinho for £8m is a bargain. You can't sit tight hoping for that again because the world will pass you by while you wait. Look at Wenger, he's still waiting for Patrick Vieira for £2.5m....... still...... waiting....... SPEND!
You have to move with the market, yes grab the bargains while you can, of course, but sometimes you have to go big to compete at the top as that's how the market has gone. Not crazy £50m big but £30m big. Aspas looks a good player, £7m, good buy. But your team would be much better with Willian behind Sturridge than Aspas behind Sturridge. Yes he's £20m dearer but, hey, that's the market your in.
Besides, i think the club knows this anyway because they spent £22m on Suarez. They bid for Willian. They bid for Mkhitaryan. So i think they get the market and the need to go big sometimes anyway. Just not got one over the line yet.
But, anyway, i don't think Liverpool could get CL football by just buying £5m, £10m, £12m players all the time. At some point you need to roll the dice to get there, in my opinion anyway.
That's what Spurs are doing now, rolling the dice. There are no guarantees but it is the way to get in the top 4.

If only Brendan was given the 100 odd mil and a dice to roll instead of Dalglish...

RE: Liverpool FC
We'll get the right players in.
Even with the players we've got now i think we'll challenge this year. Gerrard, Lucas, Coutinho, Sturridge and Aspas in the same team for a full season with a solid new keeper and back four behind, throw Suarez into the mix in September, one of the best strikers on the planet and we won't be far off top 4. Add one or two bits of quality to that and it makes us even stronger.
Best spirit I've seen in our team for years, some proper characters in the dressing room.
Lets play some football.

liverpool are nothing like arsenal, a couple of years ago they were splashing the cash on players like suarez, carroll, henderson, downing etc, under rodgers they haven't spent as much but they are still spending a bit, spurs are finally waking up that they need to spend if they want to compete with city, chelsea and united and maybe even arsenal will too but wenger is strange

I never said they were.
''NOT that Liverpool are, i'm just saying there is a danger of it..''
I was just saying to gnp that if you look for £5m - £10m bargains all the time, like Coutinho was, then..... ''there is a danger of it''. That is all.
Wenger is still waiting for a £2.5m Vieira, a £10m Henry, a £3m Petit, and while he waits everybody else is getting better and catching up, i.e. Spurs and Liverpool.

This transfer window or net spend is -5m, hope we get some more players in for the starting 11, need a strong midfielder and a winger.
