World Cup 2014 - The Draw

Here are the pots for the World Cup draw taking place today.

Pot 1: Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Belgium, Colombia, Germany, Switzerland, Uruguay.

Pot 2: Ivory Coast, Ghana, Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Chile, Ecuador.

Pot 3: Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia, United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras.

Pot 4: Bosnia-Hercegovina, Croatia, England, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, France.

The draw begins with 1 European country being randomly drawn from Pot 4 and placed in Pot 2.

This is what happened in the rehearsal yesterday. Check out Group A.

Group A: Brazil, Italy, France, Australia.
Group B: Uruguay, Nigeria, USA, Croatia.
Group C: Argentina, Ghana, Costa Rica, Russia.
Group D: Switzerland, Chile, Japan, Greece.
Group E: Spain, Ivory Coast, South Korea, England.
Group F: Colombia, Cameroon, Honduras, Netherlands.
Group G: Germany, Ecuador, Iran, Portugal.
Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Mexico, Bosnia-Herzegovina

^ That would have meant England's last game would have been against Spain in the dreaded jungle

Hopefully not England! Because it most likely would make the draw harder.

How complicated can Fifa make the draw..

It just slightly less complicated than Snookered147 rules for the Ultimate Babe comp (only joking Snooky)

As I understand it, whichever unlucky European team gets moved from pot 4 to pot 2 is guaranteed to face a South American seed. It's because there can't be more than two European teams in one group.

As WHB said, this random selection will be made before anything else, and Glenn Hoddle on Sky Sports News just reported that Sir Geoff Hurst has that responsibility. Imagine how poor Geoff will feel if he picks England to go to pot 2, and potentially give us a nightmare draw. A worst case scenario if we go to pot 2 could be for example a group against Brazil, USA and Italy.

Pelé has declined to participate in the draw for fear of picking balls which would put Brazil in a tough group.

The pots are now finalised. The European country randomly drawn from Pot 4 and placed in Pot 2 is Italy.

Pot 2 is therefore: Ivory Coast, Ghana, Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Chile, Ecuador, Italy.

Pot 4 is therefore: Bosnia-Hercegovina, Croatia, England, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, France.
