Wow eu president just put spanner in works yet snp still think would be easy to join eu

although the irony would be salmond have to go crawling to cameron to get the uk vote if membership was up for discussion.

Half the politicians in the UK are Scottish or of Scottish descent, Cameron included. If there is a yes vote then I hope they will all have to relocate north of the border or apply for residency and work permits. Might be difficult getting those if Scotland doesn't get EU membership. Can't have an invasion of non-EU immigrants flooding across our borders. We certainly can't have foreign nationals involved in the UK government.

No they don't but they are automatically given Scottish Nationality if the vote is yes. So not allowed to vote but forced to become Scottish whether they want to or not. Whilst most may want to I do know some who resent the lack of a vote when the result affects them.

The comments by the EU president don't seem to have been taken very seriously. Although he's Spanish his comments don't reflect the views of the Spanish government.

Sick of Salmond moaning about westminister interference wether he likes it or not Scotland is Part of the UK and I for one would be annoyed if westminister sat on its hands while salmond and his cronies ripped apart the UK

Thing is, Eck has no Plan B. If he wants to be taken seriously he needs a credible alternative strategy that doesn't involve keeping the pound.
He cannot seriously expect us to take a decision that will not only impact on us, but on all future generations, based on him winning his game of poker with Westminster.
If we vote yes, then, by all means, negotiate to keep the pound. But do so from a position of strength, i.e. we'd like to keep the pound but we'll be fine if it doesn't happen.
It may well be in Westminsters interest to share the pound but, the way things are just now, they will be able to dictate the terms of any agreement.

And that's not good enough to get a 'yes' from me. Salmond needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

Westminster has no interest in sharing the pound. The benefit to the UK would be zero.
