I read that some tons of gold from the Ukraine are now in the US. After the Russian invasion there was concern that the Russians might get some smart ideas about Ukraine's gold reserves and for the sake of taking precautions it was sent to the US for safe keeping. So I don't think any gold went to China via the MH370.

The turn was towards Palau Langkawi and I assume that despite the problem on board he did not turn back to Kuala Lampur as some would expect because it was an emergency situation and he knew that the Palau Langkawi airport was closer.

What sort of problem on board are you suggesting, because if it necessitated diverting the plane to make an emergency landing somewhere it would also mean a mayday call was bound to be made?

At one of the daily press conferences Malaysia Airlines said that the main cargo was fruit, 3 to 4 tonnes of it. The only cargo that could have been considered remotely hazardous was a consignment of lithium batteries.

The Australian Air Force have been to the site shown on the satellite images and found nothing, even when they flew a mere 100 feet above the sea.

If those batteries were confirmed as being in the cargo hold, would it have been likely that those batteries either leaked or exploded (which I doubt happened anyway) and leaked poisonous fumes into the plane killing everyone one board given either the altitude the plane may have been flying or the speed it was flying?

If gold was aboard, then I wouldn't be at all surprised if either of the pilots were part of any heist? it would most certainly have been one of the most audacious heists ever to have been attempted.

And to make eiither a mayday call or request a emergency landing
you would need to have some sort of communication.

I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned yet that flight MH20 had on it's passenger list as many as 20 engineers from a major defence contractor, a company called Freescale. What a nice collection of brains that would be for anyone who wanted to get hold of cutting-edge military technology.

I notice the satellite images are stamped 16 March. As that was 4 days ago the debris could easily be a couple of hundred miles away by now, so hopefully they weren't looking just in that one spot.

According to the BBC story that skully linked to the Australian planes searched an area 14,000 square miles in size. They will try again on Friday.
