Nice to see CNN on the ball as usual. That information was released a few weeks ago!

What is really puzzling me is that there has been not one piece of debris found belonging to the plane. That seems just so implausible to me. I understand not finding the plane itself for months or even years, given the depth of the ocean and the size of the search area, but you would think there must be something floating around out there that could be positively tied to the flight. That French plane in 2009 took 2 years to find but a fair amount of floating debris was collected from it within 5 days.

Their thinking is that if the pilot had links to terrorists there would have been other suspicious or untraceable calls, not just a single one.

Why doesn't the person who made that call come forward to eliminate themselves from the enquiry?

When there really isn't anything new to report, CNN often seem to find some old news and give a slightly different spin to it, so they can run it as 'breaking news'. I've noticed them recycling a few old stories that way.

CNN used to be excellent. They made their name with their coverage of Desert Storm.... Since then they've turned into a clone of Fox News.

RE: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370
I came across a Malaysian Airlines 777 experiencing a failure of its navigation system. The plane was on a flight from Perth to Kuala Lumpur in 2005 when it suddenly climbed from 38,000 feet to 41,000 feet, then dropped 4,000 feet as the pilots tried to regain control, but then climbed another 2,000 feet. The pilots managed to fly back to Perth, where a failure was found in the "software of the air data inertial reference unit (ADIRU), a device that supplies acceleration figures to the flight computer."

The problem was serious enough for an emergency airworthiness directive to be issued in August 2005 instructing all 777 operators to revert to a previous version of the software in question. I can't help wondering if some similar navigation system failure happened to flight MH370, but maybe with worse consequences this time. Note that the registration number of the plane with the problem in 2005 was 9M-MRG and the registration of flight MH370 was 9M-MRO (sister planes).

Possibly because doing so would be admitting to breaking the law by using a fake ID card?

RE: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370
Malaysia Airlines have now suffered 3 incidents in the last few weeks - just a coincidence or sabotage?

"Police are looking at whether a Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bangalore was SABOTAGED, forcing it to make an emergency landing this morning. Flight MH192 had to turn back and land at the Malaysian capital's airport when a tyre burst during take-off. On 24 March, another Malaysia Airlines flight, MH066 from Kuala Lumpur, was forced to land in Hong Kong after it suffered an electrical failure on the way to Incheon, South Korea. With the disappearance of flight MH370, that makes a total of 3 incidents in just a few weeks. As a result, police have been ordered by the Malaysian government to look into the possibility that Malaysia Airline's planes are being sabotaged." (Daily Mirror)
