The searchers have given up on that. They aren't even listening for pings anymore.

What if it did actually land? because I get the impression it might not possibly in the ocean after all. I would have thought they could have found the location by now if they had continued listening for the pings.

The Malaysian Prime Minister has just given CNN an interview in which he said that he hasn't given up on the idea that the passengers are still alive.

Perhaps it was the North Koreans who shot the pane down, that would seem more appropriate.

If there was still someone at the controls when the plane went down it could have made a controlled landing, in which case the plane may have eventually sank more or less intact. This scenario would explain the lack of any floating debris.

The latest from CNN is that they got a group of oceanographers and engineers together to see if they could retreive information from a mobile phone which had been in the sea for 2 weeks. The answer was yes they could, which means that if the plane's ever found the phones that were on board would be items of great interest to the investigators.

The Royal Navy has withdrawn its HMS Tireless submarine from the search for flight MH370. HMS Tireless had used sonar to try and locate the plane's black boxes, but it was stood down after the Australian searchers announced there was "no prospect" of detecting further "pings" from the box.

I think it's time to revisit this recording and look again at the unidentified object seen. Given that no real answers have been forthcoming about the missing plane, surely this radar playback deserves more attention.

About 200 grieving Chinese family members were called to attend a meeting, which was held by 10 Malaysian Airline staff.

The families were infuriated to learn that a Malaysian government official did not come to brief them and vented their anger on the airline staff.
