As far as Dyke's plan for the B league, I think it is a good idea, but should not be another tier in the league structure. Yes we need to get more young players into the professional game, but the B league should not be another tier between the league and non league clubs.

For the B league to actually work, IMO it needs to be an independent league (or division) on it's own. If it becomes a fifth division, it probably will make it less financially attractive to non league clubs to aim for league football status. To win the Conference title and then have to come up against the likes of the reserve teams of Man City and such will only result in the Conference teams been automatically relegated. And how & when will games be played in what is already a sound fixture structure?
Also, the idea of three home grown players in the starting line up
is not a new one it is an old chestnut has been already tried once before.
I cannot see how many chairmen who are foreign owners of clubs will allow that to happen. What do you guys think of it?

Two things about the 'league 3' idea :

The feeder / nursery teams will start off tucked away in the fifth tier where they won't have a lot of attention, but if they do well (and they will, with backing from rich parent clubs) they will inevitably climb the ranks and take an unhealthy hold on the upper divisions. Unless there is a mechanism to artificially keep them down in the lower reaches (and who could bet against that being against some European law or whatnot).

Secondly, it will make some interesting questions when the feeder clubs get drawn against their premier league masters in the cup draws. Will they be allowed to compete freely. Or if they are exempt from the cups then they aren't getting the playing experience that the whole idea is designed around.

The proposal says that B teams would be banned from cup competitions.

its a total farce if it had just been league 3 with no promotion and relegation then fine but there is promotion and relegation up to league 1
so that means it will impact on Football league clubs within 5 years because it will be taking places from them to progress

and i dont see it improving the game i mean the lower league standard of play is more brutal than the premiership can you imagine a young jack wilshire still be able to play if he had spent from 16-21 in the lower leagues

someone made a good point about the amount of english players leading to sucess when we had more english players we were even shitter at international level least with the forigners we have not missed a qualification to World Cup since 94 and only missed out on one euro qualification in that time

Greg dyke keeps spouting on about spain having b teams yet spains bloody international record apart from the last world cup and couple of euros has been absolutly shocking

and how many spanish players in the todays squad play have not played for Madrid Barca or have Played in england i would say english football has a bigger influence on the spanish international game than lower league B teams
