It might make him think twice before snacking on an opponent again. I don't consider it too harsh. If I got barred from going to work or having anything to do with colleagues plus a 66k fine then believe me it would affect me a lot more than it will this hot headed idiot.

I am a Liverpool fan and can understand the motivation behind this punishment. It was tough and rightly so but I speaking with my lawyers hat on now and the evidence of the camera angles were inconclusive. There was no other witnesses. However in Football they convict based on the lesser burden of proof so they would have concluded that based on the evidence they had and " on the balance of probabilities" he was guilty of the offence.

Politically I believe the sentence was driven to be that way.

Well breaking news- he isn't. Anything that comes his way is the fault of one man only and thats Mr L. Suarez. When not throwing himself on the floor he's getting banned for racially abusing opponents or biting them. He should be judged not just on this incident but the fact that he's already had two other chances but obviously feels he is above the rules and comes back for a THIRD offence, surely time to call an end to all the chances he gets. With any luck the odious little creep will off to Spain soon and good riddance.

nobody said he is innocent, liverpool and the fans have a right to say the punishment is too harsh, which it is. Uruguay should loose Suarez not liverpool, he was playing for them... you just sound like somebody jumping on the anti suarez bandwagon...

He doesn't think he is above the rules at all, the guy clearly has a mental issue and needs the help and support of FIFA to over come his problems...

End of the day all FIFA care about is their image, they have just used this as an oppourtunity to make themselves look like the saviour of football, and if anybody thinks they are above the rules it's them, taking their bribes, backhand payments and cash in hand tax free bonuses..

Why haven't FIFA come down more heavily on the Uruguayan FA over this? Why should they defend him when he has probably brought disgrace to the team and himself? If I was John Henry now I would cut his losses on him now!! Send him packing back to Uruguay - for good.
Liverpool should say to him Forget Real, forget Barcelona you are going home! Surely both clubs can't be tempted & take the risk of him biting someone else and god for bid do it in a CL match?

RE: Has Luis Suarez been fairly punished?
You see, that annoys me when people refer to an 'anti-Suarez bandwagon'. There isn't one - for me the evidence this time is conclusive, just like it was for the Ivanovic incident.

It's not a case of people or the media or the press or whoever else they want to blame getting on his back. How about the bloke stops biting people in the first place? It fucking hacks me off this does - last season he was showing signs he was starting to clean up his act. That was recognized by him winning the player of the season awards. So he was recognized by fans and by his fellow players in the league as having much improved. He even acknowleged after the Ivanovic bite that he must not do this again. Then suddenly, its all out the window and he has done it again.

I know that you're not condoning biting Fernandez and I can see your point about Liverpool seemingly suffering again. But it was the only strong way for FIFA to get the message across that this behaviour won't and can't be tolerated. I actually think it's FIFA finally showing some balls and taking a strong action which I congratulate them on. I understand Liverpool's frustration and perhaps a two year ban from international football only would have got the message across too.

But at the end of the day, it's down to him. The punishment is rightly intended to try to make him change his ways and by including the domestic ban it is the only way to ensure that message gets across. I hope he does get the psychiatric help he needs and I hope FIFA provide that. As I've said I think that counselling should have been ordered and arranged by FIFA as part of the sanctions. If he has had counselling before it obviously hasn't worked. I still think Liverpool would be better off ofloading him. They'd get a big pay day and it gives him a fresh start elsewhere, away from the media attention in the premier league that he clearly dislikes.

But it's nothing to do with an anti Suarez bandwagon. Stop biting people - plain and simple. He's got off lightly for me anyway - as I said it could have and in my opinion should have been a lot worse.

Liverpool are not going to sell their top player who the whole team has been built around for the past 3 years, it's not that simple and selling him on the cheap achieves nothing..

He's not a criminal...

exactly regen i made the same point, he got voted all these awards by fans by football writers and by the players and then he goes out and bites for the third time. the pfa offered him help and liverpool said they will do it internally but its obviously failed. the thing is regen some liverpool fans cant see no wrong with him and then they come out with stupid shite like "he didnt murder anyone". i remember the shite on here when rooney swore at a camera when he scored against some1, and every1 wanted him banned! yet suarez has been found guilty of racism as well as numerous biting incidents! to do the same disgusting act 3 times and still defend him and talk shit is beyond belief!

have your own opinion, lead dont follow.
