It seems like a fairly reasonable description to me.

Sometimes a film which is merely X rated has no real sexual or violent content at all - Midnight Cowboy would be a well known example of that. It was just X rated because it discussed male prostitution. Anything which depicts sex acts is therefore often described as XXX - and that shouldn't be confused with hardcore as an XXX tag does not imply explicit material.
