BBC weighs in on online piracy

Interesting perspective from the BBC in Australia, where the government has invited interested parties to submit thoughts on how to deal with online piracy.
Our cuddly old beeb has a vested interest with the content they put out overseas, much of which is offered on subscription channels in Australia and other countries, unlike here in the UK where it is free to air.

The good old beeb has gone so far as to suggest that it is the ISP's duty to actively spy on users online activity to thwart piracy, and even to assume that someone using a high bandwidth over VPN is likely to be pirating!

Very unPC of the BBC to suggest guilt by association and guilty until proven innocent. They would scream blue murder if their own journalists were arrested for using VPNs in the UK, or their sources in unstable countries were arrested for using them during the Arab Spring.

On the other hand, foreign sales help keep the TV licence down.
