RE: Scottish Independence
Yes it does need to be a huge win for Yes in Glasgow I think.
The gap is widening overall with just 12 areas left to declare.

RE: Scottish Independence
Glasgow votes Yes and reduces the gap by around 25,000.
Doubt it will be enough though.
The gap is still too big.

But 75% turnout where most were 80-85% that will cost

Any word on the demographic split?

If younger people trended "YES" and older people "NO", then this could yet rumble on with another vote in 5-10 years. If it's the other way around, then I would think the union is safe for quite a while.

RE: Scottish Independence
I have remained silent about the referendum thus far, for various reasons. But now that it is over, with a vote of no by the people of Scotland, I want to say two things:

Firstly, Scotland is an amazing country. If you've never visited here, you should. It is the most creative and welcoming place I have ever lived. It has a vibrant arts and music scene and boasts some breathtaking scenery. I have visited Glasgow and Edinburgh many times and I still find new things there to interest me. Even though I have seen the best, and worst, of Scotland over the years the country should be rightly proud of itself for conducting this vote peaceably and rationally. The future is, and always has been, Scotland's - and it moves forward, not with the 'permission' of Westminster, but because it has the strength of its own convictions. I, for one, am expecting a great future for Scotland.

Secondly, politicians of all parties and types are self-serving liars. To convince yourself otherwise is delusional.

Oh, if you think my main speech in this post shows which way I voted in the referendum, you're a better guesser than I am.

Right glad thas all over-never want to see or hear Jeremy Vine again. Now its time to move on and lets consider a national assembly for the English, governed by the English. With the fawning fops that rule the UK thats something that no doubt will be ruled out Smile
