if he played in the league i suggested he would be starting 3 or 4 leagues below his natural level, even though the crime he committed was disgusting he wasn't a crap player he scored 35 goals in one season for sheff utd in league 1 before he got banged up, he might be a shit player now though after not playing for 2 years anyway

I hope you agree that I made my view clear and hope I haven't been misjudged by what I said mate. I thought the club had re-signed him and I probably misjudged the interpretation that it had been a done deal. Even so I think the activity on twitter to him has looked pretty much against him being re - signed. And when you have somebody like Jess Ennis voicing her opinion who is a well respected athlete herself in the city, then it probably speaks volumes in itself, that what the club is even considering with him, won't go down too well.

I'm sure you agree that rape is a despicable crime and he should have served his full sentence, before being released, and his arrogant attitude shows much of a role model he really is. If he wants to play football he should be playing in a Sunday league team - that way he is out of the limelight of the professional game altogether

I have long since been of the opinion that all current international tournaments should be abolished and friendlies scrapped as well (apart from games played for charity).
I would replace it with a World League played over a 4 year cycle with 4 nations being promoted and relegated at the end of 4 year cycle from each divsion within the league structure. The World champions would be the nation that finished first in the top division of the league structure.
There would be financial incentives for both the countries and the individual players according to individual results and final league positions.

So why would I do this. I will give 4 main reasons.
1. To ensure every match was of real meaning and consequence.
2. To ensure that the teams are playing against opposition of a similar standard thereby avoiding qualifying games where one team is vastly inferior to the other.
Currently if for instance if Holland play against San Marino then it becomes attack against defence with neither team learning much from the game. The result is pretty much a foregone conclusion.
3. A four year cycle is a better indicator of consistency over a period than the odd tournament here or there.
As it stands right now players might not be available for tournament play due to injury and miss out. If any of the best players in the world are unable to play then the spectators are missing out and due to unlucky timing so is the respective country of the player concerned.
Over a four year cycle all the best players could make a meaningful contribution towards a league position.
All countries would go through some degree of a transitional phase due to retirements etc.
4. All bidding processes for tournaments would cease to be needed and the body running the world game could refocus their energies on being the custodians of the game in a much more effective, transparent and meaningful way.
As each country in each division would play each other home and away it would be much simpler.
