Smalling was cynical and blocked him, just to allow Man Utd's defenders time to get back. Such cynical moves like that should always result in a yellow card.

It'd help if the referees were consistent with their decisions, if blocking a goalkeeper from releasing the ball quickly is a yellow card then so is Clichy holding back Januzaj or Zabaleta's foul on RVP but neither got a card for those particular fouls.

So despite the numerous injuries and formation change, United got 3 points at the emirates, when Di Maria missed his chance I laughed it off but if Arsenal managed to get a draw, I'd have been crying. How did he not hit the target Surprised

It looks like Michael Oliver has taken over from Howard Webb as Man Utd's favourate referee. Penalty, what penalty Rolleyes

Love how people point out when United get a penalty awarded. What about last weekend when there were a couple of teams awarded a penalty that was dubious or just as bad, one that wasn't awarded when it was clearly a penalty and 10 foot from the ref. (Chelsea game if I remember correctly) Never gets a mention lol. Fact is the refereeing standard is poor full stop and bad decisions are made at every ground in the country, every week.

RE: Manchester United FC
and to emphasise my point further Liverpool v Leicester. Liverpool get a penalty when the ball clearly hit the Leicester player in the face for one of their two goals and for the second penalty it was a case of ball to arm with the player having no chance to get his arm out of the way. 50/50 call with some refs giving a penalty and others ignoring it. Unlike other teams supporters I wouldn't suggest that Liverpool had the referee in their pocket but more likely a case of the more you attack the more you get incidents occurring, some of them favourable.Smile

What brought you to that bizarre conclusion? Leicester had half the possession in that match and half the goal attempts. Show me the evidence that Liverpool attacked more than Leicester!

He didn't say Liverpool attacked more than Leicester. He said the more you attack generally, the better chance you have of winning a penalty or a free kick. In other words, the longer you keep the ball in the oppositions box, the better chance you have of winning a penalty, simples Smile
