Watching The 6th Day (Arnie) but I know i'd much rather be watching Total Recall, which is better in every way Tongue

There's still enough sci-fi quirkyness to satisfy. And the incredibly lame "I might be back" - "oh, you'll be back" bit Smile

Ohh yes! It's good to be bad

Just watched Mr Turner. Never been so bored in my life. 2 1/2 hours of pure snooze. Could not belief that a biopic on one of the greatest painters we ever had could be so boring.

The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies

Fantastic final film in the hobbit trilogy. The script is very good and the special effects are amazing especially the fantastic 45 minute long final battle. Some very emotional moments too. All the cast are brilliant especially Martin Freeman as bilbo baggins.

The ending is brilliant and ties into The Lord Of The Rings trilogy perfectly

My film of 2014

10/10

The Monuments Men. 7/10.
Interesting story and a good cast but a bit lacking in pace for me, seemed to take a while to get going. Don't get me wrong - I was not at all expecting an action film, but it was still a little slow.
Maybe also just a little too worthy/teetering a little into self-importance - no disrespect at all intended to the real people on whom the story was based, there were some genuine heroes - but the "we are important and saving art for future generations from the Nazis is worth the lives" type speeches were a bit laboured. That seemed a little bit too much/clunky for me script-wise. It's a tricky thing to get right though and by and large the film seemed respectful, maybe just a little over-reverential but that's just personal opinion.
But then again if some of it was coming from true documentary sources (and some of it was voice-overs reading what seemed to be real letters etc) then that's possibly how people of those times did express themselves : ie. more formally etc.

The Hobbit - Battle of the Five Armies. 8/10.

I won't detail my niggles to avoid spoilers. But I think my nostalgia for the book I read as a child was slightly disappointed with some of the interpretation of certain bits of the story. I still think 3 films was one film too many - but I'd like to view them all again before definitely deciding on that. Smile
