RE: Top Gear
And I thought that the other number plate was a reference to Clarkson being a 'Bellend' only to find that it had a hidden Falklands war meaning.

After all the hype about the plates, it was noticeable that about two-thirds of the way in , the front number-plate on the porsche disappeared, perhaps someone decided it wasn't such a good idea during the filming, maybe it is not illegal to drive in Chile or Argentina without a front plate.

RE: Top Gear
Have to say that was the worst one they have done so far hope it picks up but got a feeling they were being careful or its been so highly edited not to offend anyone they have taken everything out of it

It was stated that they only realised about the plates during the filming after posting pics and stuff on the net and seeing some of the comments. So it's feasible the plate was removed then, but more likely it just fell off given the conditions they were driving in.
As for the legality, I would say that few of the cars/vans/lorries they drive are actually legal by the time they have done their usual 'modifications' part way through. I'd guess they get special dispensation from the local authorities to drive them regardless.

As has been said, all a bit dull so far, some breath-taking scenery, but thats not really the point of these shows. Probably the best bit was going over the rickety bridge only to find a dead-end. Looks like they would have been better editing it down to a single show rather than stretch it to a two-parter.

RE: Top Gear
i'm a fan of top gear but these so called special road trips that cost a fortune to film are just a waste of time now, not funny or interesting at all, the first couple they did weren't too bad but now every 1 is the same just with different cars in different places, the plot/idea is the same the "jokes" are the same, it's all just a jolly for the presenters and film crew

RE: Top Gear
^ Top Gear doesn't cost the tax payer anything.
OK every episode costs about £500k but this money is more than recouped by overseas sales and repeat fees on Dave.

Buying Top Gear has proved to be a big sucess for the BBC
