Thank you! What is the matter with Hammond saying "It just doesn't make me feel special" just cos it's got awesome active suspension and drives round corners well? (And is gorgeous-avant-garde, not gorgeous-retro.) I'm guessing he meant 'special' as in the kind you feel when you're the centre of attention because the fire brigade & air ambulance crew are trying to dig you out of the ground....
And Clarkson agreeing? This is the man who coined the phrase "Concorde moment".Huh

I thought it was a good opening episode - Loved the Saint Petersburg race, though having been there I did laugh when they first mentioned narrow streets and the Hamster did take a big risk being on a cycle - there's plenty of car on car accidents let alone car on cycle though he probably had loads of security.

Getting a little tired of Star in a ..... though.

Got to agree it was a decent series opener to the longest run of shows for some time, looking forward to the next show featuring a trip to Australia.

im always open to positive change

The 'Star In A...' section has always been the part I use as an ad break, lol, hate that bit and Ed 'I'm ginger and student girls love me' Sheeran was an particular low point this week.

Can't wait for this Sunday's episode...a Bentley AND a GTR in the same road trip? I'm more than happy with that Big Grin

RE: Top Gear
I wish they would further concentrate on the car reviews more than they currently do, that's the best part for me. Having a butcher's at some new machinery and it's stats is far more appealing than some dip-shit celebrity trying to get round their track.
I don't mind the silly fictitious challenges for a laugh, but they should swap out the now very old 'Star in a reasonably priced car' bollocks for an extra car review.
So for Richard Hammond to accuse Lamborghini of "playing it safe" in reference to their new car and it's looks; I say Top Gear is playing it safe by the way they do things which is obviously aimed at attracting a wider audience with all the tomfoolery and pointless celeb's.

The BBC aren't going to change Top Gear while the money is still rolling in. Ask Coca Cola what happens when you mess around with a winning formula.

As for Lamborghini, they're as bad as Aston Martin. Each new car is almost identical to the preceding one.

Only 3 things in life are certain. Death, Taxes and lesbians will never look how they do in porn movies.

What? Are you joking? So Jeremy Clarkson won't personally read my post and scrap the celebrity timed laps? eek
That's disappointing isn't it, what a wanker. bladewave Smile

As for Lamborghini, yes they do all look similar with the Huracan being no exception....

It's easy to see the basic silhouette is extremely similar across the years and here's the Huracan....

Quite clearly it follows suit and hasn't lost it's aggressive Lamborghini style looks that Hammond was trying to imply it has.

The same repetitiveness can be said of many cars, check out Ferrari over the years, they've stuck to their winning formula too in my opinion. Perhaps not quite as obvious as Lamborghini, but the general features are still very similar, only becoming rounder and more sculptured over the years....

RE: Top Gear
personally i like the huracan, what's wrong with adding some German efficiency to something so beautiful?

Chuck Norris has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). the virus is now in quarantine for 14 days.

Quite: "In proportion as the past is prolonged into the present we are weakened...; in proportion as the novel capabilities...are developed we are strengthened... This is no time, then, for clinging to any type...or any feature.., merely because it is old and accustomed - no time for rejecting things because they are new and unaccustomed. But, on the other hand, this being pre-eminently a time of risk because of the transitions we are passing through, it is pre-eminently a time for making our great experiments with scrupulous care, and for wasting nothing on methods which cannot succeed."
-Sir Edward J Reed, 1869.

If a Victorian sees progress and the application of science like that, and I know Clarkson is a huge fan of Brunel and "men in stovepipe hats, furiously smelting" (of whom Reed was one of the foremost), then I fail to see how the old fart can agree with Hammond on his misguided and petulant, backward-looking assessment of the Huracan.
