15 consecutive defeats for Maria suggests not.
But sport can produce huge surprises now and again.
This would be bordering on miraculous though if Maria pulls it off. The size of the task is monumental.
Williams has the better serve, the better return, more power, better game at the net, superior movement and is better on both forehand and backhand side.
There is hardly anything that favours Sharapova in this match up. But on the day you never know........

Serena's playing Maria off the court in the 1st set.
However Serena's not well and is struggling for breath.

Maria's best hope is to keep the match going as long as possible

I would have loved Maria to have won but deep down I knew it was asking a lot.
Sad for her but she must forget about it and move on.
