RE: Football Banter
as far as the world cup goes when they say shorten it they don't mean to play less games, just to play them closer together. Qatar is a small country which means less travel time which in turn means less recovery time between matches. you could probably cut the tournament down to 3 weeks or even slightly less which would make a huge difference.

Chuck Norris has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). the virus is now in quarantine for 14 days.

FIFA have stated that as all the country leagues have seven years to prepare for the changes to their domestic seasons and therefore they won't be paying out any compensation.
But the European clubs are less than happy

So I'm predicting 'There may be trouble ahead'

Also if England fail to qualify for that World Cup, would the Football League make any changes to the fixtures and if so would the clubs allow their players to go to the competition?

They have no choice under current FIFA regulations. Unless the players announcement their retirement from international football.

No that wouldn't work. Injury claims have to be assessed by national team doctors, not the club doctors. Those are the rules!

I think it's all fine and well that Fifa have to be seen to be impartial and not favour any Country over another and ofcourse vary the hosts from tournament to tournament but common sense surely has to come into play.

The World Cup gets played every 4 years and it's always been held in June as that has proven to be a winning formula. A lot of people tend to book their summer holidays at that time of the year. Not in the bloody winter bladewave

Qatar should be stripped of the right to hold the World Cup, also they are not exactly what you'd call a footballing nation anyway. What next I wonder, Jamica hosting the Winter Olympics Rolleyes

^Qatar should have been stripped of the right to host the World Cup at the time of the original vote, don't forget FIFA have already said they can't change the host nation, I guess if enough countries had made more protests at the original vote, probably they would have been forced to re run the vote for 2022. I agree also that they are not exactly what you'd call a footballing nation anyway but look at what Saudi Arabia have achieved in world cups in the past!!
And as for Jamaica hosting the Winter Olympics - I guess it could be possible somehow!! Rolleyes

there probably would a lot of international retirements before too long so players can prolong their playing careers with their clubs.

Then again, there probably is a lawyer who is working somewhere in the world right now to find a loophole that would allow clubs not to release their players come 2022. Like it or lump this is the end result of a farce decision under Blatter.

RE: Football Banter
It hasn't been a good set of Europa League results tonight.
Celtic, Spurs and Liverpool have all been knocked out.

It's now left for Everton to fly the flag.
At least they are well on top in their match being 7-2 up on agregate.
This is a very one sided match, a bit like toffee men v boys Big Grin
