RE: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370
A senior British pilot claims he may have solved the mystery of what happened to flight MH370. Boeing 777 captain Simon Hardy believes he knows where the plane is, following a 6 month analysis of the flight data. The location he pinpoints is outside the current search area.

Anyone with the desire to read the mathematics in full can find Hardy's analysis here: http://www.flightglobal.com/features/mh370/

It's very close to a year now since the plane disappeared. The anniversary will be this weekend.

Search could be called off soon!

"The search for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 cannot go on forever, Australia's deputy prime minister said, and discussions are already under way between Australia, China and Malaysia as to whether to call off the hunt within weeks.

The search of a rugged 60,000 sq km (23,000 sq mile) patch of sea floor some 1,600 km (1,000 miles) west of the Australian city of Perth, which experts believe is the plane's most likely resting place, will likely be finished by May.

Australian Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss told Reuters that a decision would have to be taken well before then as to whether to continue into the vast 1.1 million sq km area around the primary search zone if nothing has been found.

Discussions had already begun about what to do in that event, including the possibility that the search might be called off, said Truss."

There's a story just come to light of a Malaysia Airlines wet-wipe that was found unopened on a Western Australia beach last July.

Some people argue that there never was a crash. That the plane was landed on the ocean and then sank more or less intact.

Are the 227 passengers and 12 crew of MH370 the largest group of people ever to disappear without a trace?

The wipe mentioned above could well be a trace of course although I don't see how it could ever be proven.

In aviation they are the largest group of people to disappear without trace. I don't know if any disappearance at sea can beat it.

Wikipedia's entry on MH370 is interesting in that it doesn't put the blame on the captain, as most people seem to believe now. It still talks about something possibly going wrong on the plane leading to hypoxia as the cause of the disappearance and various other theories too.
