Former Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown has said he will eat his hat if a prediction that the party will lose 47 seats is correct. The exit poll predicts the party winning just 10 seats, down from 57 seats in 2010. Lord Ashdown told the BBC he would eat his hat in public if it came true.
