The basis of the Falklands being British:

That self determination is a universal right enshrined in UN charter, and applies in the case of the Falkland Islanders.[88][89]

That in 1833 an Argentine garrison was expelled but the civilian residents were encouraged to stay.[27]
That the islands have been continuously and peacefully occupied by the UK since 1833, with the exception of "2 months of illegal occupation" by Argentina.[89]
That the Arana-Southern Treaty of 1850 (the 'Convention of Settlement'), ended all possible claims by Argentina on the Falkland Islands.[27][94]

I notice BBC3 are already repeating the final series. I do think they might have done well to quit with the Burma special, or even just before it.

But then all the jokes and registration plates wouldn't have worked or the increase in viewing figures........

They'd have found other things to joke about in Brazil. It is Brazil after all And they could have still mentioned Argentina stuff in an ironic way ("we're here because the Argentines can't take a joke, and wouldn't let us film there...") if they so chose.

We're announcing today that Chris Evans has signed a three-year deal to lead an all-new Top Gear line-up.
