The movie was originally scripted and even filmed with China as the principle enemy. Not sure how much more believable that would have been, but certainly more than North Korea!

But a few big releases in China alerted the studio to how lucrative the Chinese market really is and they did not think they'd get a permit to show the film with China as the main enemy. So it was re-scripted, some scenes were re-shot and the rest was fixed in post-production to retrospectively make North Korea the bad guy.

All of that notwithstanding, it is still not a patch on the 1980s original. They didn't change the plot at all, except for adding some more saccharine melodrama to the relationship between the two brothers. And improved special effects don't add much to that kind of movie. So I don't really get the point of re-making it.

There are a ridiculous amount of remakes being made at the moment, and many of them are 80s classics. Hollywood believes that by adding a few special effects it makes a whole new movie. Look at the bloody atrocious remakes of Robocop, Total Recall, Fright Night and Red Dawn, disgraceful.

^^^ It's true, now that I think about it.

And you forgot Karate Kid, Footloose, Conan the Barbarian and Arthur.

Why am I wasting so much time writing crap about babeshows when I should be working on my remake of Ferris Bueller's Day Off!? Or Top Gun?

Ant-Man, a great enjoyable film a bit slow to start off with but it gets going it never misdeed a beat, the film has a great cast who all work well together and have great chemistry. The humour in the film was really funny unlike with Avengers 2 where in places it was hit and miss and felt forced. I loved the special effects of the film probably the best I've seen in a Marvel film so far. My only was the villain I just felt he was a little weak, generic and very forgettable it's not the fault of Corey Stoll who is a very actor as I've seen him in over stuff. Aside from Loki the Marvel villains seem to be very forgettable, mid credit scene was very good and the very end credit scene was good but felt a little disjointed as it was really a deleted scene from another Marvel movie which i won't spoil which one and listen out for a reference to another marvel hero, all in all very enjoyable can't for the blu ray and sequel. 9.2/10.

Jurassic Park 5/10 The plot is so poorly thought out that you have to wonder how they managed to raise the funding for this. The script is so cliched and everything that happens in the movie has been seen before. One of those films where they spent £200 million on the effects and 20p on the script. Dinosaurs give a decent performance but some of the scenes are unintentionally funny. Especially the ending with the humans, raptors and T rex all looking lovingly at each other Big Grin

I love this genre of films. I recently bought ghost shark on blu ray from my local 99p store, it must be the biggest blu ray bargain of all time.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

very good 5th film in the mission impossible film franchise which follows on from the events of Ghost Protocol. lots of great action sequences right from the start to right at the end. Tom Cruise is again very good as ethan hunt and simon pegg is very funny as benji. the other cast play their part too
