Celtic legend John Hartson is suffering from cancer of the brain.

This news is absolutely shocking. I hope he gets well.

By all accounts he was a gentle giant off the pitch, I rember when Harry brought him to westham his first game against derby away where he was fat and he was slow.

The local radio radio station stated 'that the fans were chanting what a waste of money and then saying we are not sure which fans were chanting that' He did not play well!

Well how wrong can you be? him and paul Kitson between them made sure that westham avoided relegation and ended up being one of the most attractive attacking sides in the premier league, for the next few seasons.

Also who can forget the night Wales turned over Italy at Cardiff in a world cup Qualifier? He and Bellamy scared the Italian defense shitless(the Italians know a thing or two about defending) and it could have been 6-1 as opposed to 2-1

As well as that off the pitch(Berkovich was training ground) he was known to be a model professional and Rednapp has said he was a dream to work with and stayed away from all sorts trouble going out with his girfriend and family rather then then getting into fights, having a women on each arm, and getting pissed in stringfellows.

Get well John the footballing world are all behind you.

His best moment for me was smashing a 25yard screamer into the top corner at anfield on the way to the uefa cup final!

Celtic have put a statement on there website confirming it.

My best wishes and prayers are with the big man and his family -truly shocking news which is getting all too familiar nowadays. I hope it hasnt spread too much and they can get to it .

I was out with my mates in Glasgow one weekend and big John and a few of his mates were in the same pub as us . We got our photos taken with him and had a bit of banter with him (some of my mates are Rangers fans) He ended up buying us a few rounds as well - A true gentleman.

the man was a legend just saw on Sky Sports News, a firm favourite of mine and good old battering ram of a centre foward with a great finish.

TV report at lunchtime say`s john critical after op and cancer has spread to his lungs. Thoughts with him and his family. Sad day.
