I see that Piers Morgan has been ranting away like a madman tonight, saying that Chelsea's sacking of Jose Mourinho is the worst decision ever made in the history of football.

What like not picking Kevin peterson to play for england would cost England the ashes or the number of times he has called for wenger to go

If he wants Wenger to go why doesn't he get himself elected onto the board of directors?
I would say that most people probably knew it was coming one way or another, Jose's attitude this season has been one that baffled me, but given the players he has had to work with it probably isn't surprising.
That moody attitude doesn't get you anywhere and a lot of it has been down to the performances on the pitch. In time yes he will get back into football but I think we all knew that it was a question of 'when' not 'if' Roman swung the axe.
I have to mention the technical director;s statement, that statement certainly can be viewed in many ways, but to say that there was discord between the players and Jose certainly seemed to suggest that possibly the board supported the players more and not Jose.

I don't know if Gus Hiddink will turn things around enough in time to stop them sliding in the relegation zone but he has one hell o hard job in getting them to stay up now for sure. But surely the board have to wake up and realise that some players would have to be let go in the transfer window in January just to perhaps find a fresh spark for the battles ahead with new players.

I don't know if someone would be the right choice come the summer but I would like think that maybe they could give Gary Monk a chance. But ultimately it seems to me like a lot of it is player power that has pushed Jose through the exit door. Whether there will be a change in the player's attitudes with Hiddink's expected arrival remains to be seen.

So we await further news today. Even if Hiddink is coming it might be Steve Holland who picks the team for Saturday's match against Sunderland.

Hiddink has confirmed that he's in talks with Chelsea, but he's indicated that he most likely won't be in charge for Saturday's match and will just be watching. Over to Steve Holland then.

The team had already been picked by the way, before the Mourinho sacking, so it remains to be seen whether that stays the same. If so, there's no Hazard or Oscar from the last match.

There's not been any official statement on this yet, but Rui Faria, Silvino Louro, Jose Morais and Carlos Lalin have all been sacked from Chelsea's coaching staff. Steve Holland remains at the club, having worked under 4 managers and survived the departures of all 4.
