I love Dr Who but I have to say that it's been a long time since I've watched an episode from start to finish and could honestly say that I had a fucking clue what was going on. Mind that one with the ghosts on a submarine for example? What the fuck was that all about?

The creator of the Librarians Dean Devlin has sneaked a lot of Doctor Who references into his programmes. I remember watching Leverage and 2 of the characters (Nate & Sophie) used the aliases of Tom Baker & Sarah Jane and from then on that series could do no wrong. Hey, maybe even their character names are references to John Nathan Turner & Sophie Aldred or is that stretching too far?

For anyone interested, there is a new Doctor Who Big Finish audio drama, based on a 1994 Doctor Who novel, All-Consuming Fire, featuring Sherlock Holmes.

Robert Banks Stewart, who wrote Terror of the Zygons and The Seeds of Doom (as well as Shoestring, Bergerac, The Darling Buds of May & etc) has died, aged 84. RIP

Steven Moffat announces next season will be his last as showrunner.
Chris Chibnall to take over.

BBC say that only a Christmas special will air in 2016, and that Moffat's last season will be "held over" until Spring 2017 "to create a big event" and because 2016 schedules will be "full of national moments" like the Olympics and they want to have "something special" for 2017.

^ What utter, utter tripe the beeb do speak at times! Translation: We can't NOT send 100s of our people to Rio (even though the local broadcast footage would do perfectly well for most events), so with all the cuts the government have forced on us, we are only giving Who one season's budget over the next two years.

I thought it was more likely that Moffat is much too busy with Sherlock or shagging around to get a new series ready for the autumn. But hey, it's telling what prejudices people will spin any old news with

Anyway, he's going, good.

Oh come on he's been doubling up on Sherlock for several years. What's different about next year? Two things: The Olympics (the press release even mentions it in its very silly way) and the millions of pounds deficit the beeb suddenly has to plug. The latter was a direct result of the government passing on the cost of the over-75s licence fees.

I'm hardly going out on much of a limb here doddle.

I think it was a better success in the Spring anyway.

And another way of looking at it is that the BBC have confirmed 2 more series But I don't think many fans are looking at it that positively
