Near Dark(1987)

Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton give fantastic performances as outlaw vampires trying to survive in the contemporary American west.Joshua John Miller as Homer,an aged vampire trapped in a child's body is both repulsive and heartbreaking.Kathryn Bigelow's film is only slightly marred by the rushed, happy ending she was forced to add on.

Fido(2006)

Billy Connolly is a zombie who becomes more than just a house pet in Andrew Currie's Canadian comedy, set in the 1950s.

Kickboxer(1989)

Some of the worst acting ever put on film as Jean Claude Van Damme sets out to avenge his brother who was paralysed at the hands of the vicious "Tiger" Tong Po.It all culminates in a showdown fought under tranditional Mui Thai rules.Strange then that the film is set in Thailand and Van Damme's character is trained by a legendary Mui Thai teacher, fights a Mui Thai boxer and yet he doesn't do any Thai boxing in the entire film.Unbelievably,it took 6 directors to put this shit together, even though Mark Di Salle and David Worth are credited up front.

The Killer(1989)

John Woo achieved artistic nirvana with this grandiose gangster melodrama, a stylish tale of heroic bloodshed costarring Chow Gun Fat and Danny Lee as like minded tough guys on opposite sides of the law.Yun Fat's an assassin who'll only kill the wicked, whilst Lee's a maverick cop who does more or less the same. The difference is,only one has a badge.Clichéd stuff in terms of the relationship between the two main characters but, intelligent plotting mixed with Woo's trademark wild chases and amazingly staged gun play makes this a classic crime thriller.

The 5th Wave. 5/10

Don't waste your time bothering to watch it. Both Independence Day and District 9 are much better!

Action Jackson(1988)

Carl Weathers stars as Jericho Jackson,a maverick cop that's so dangerous they won't even let him have a gun.Forget the plot though and enjoy the impossible action, outrageous humour, the funky soundtrack and the bit of nudity from a pre Basic Instinct Sharon Stone.
