RE: Top Gear
People want to stop it with the anti Evans prejudice. His career has been one of a presenter, and it's made him very wealthy were he can afford a 10 mil car; were he as terrible as everybody is claiming that would never had happened.

He had by far one of the best radio 1 breakfast shows in the 90's and with TFI friday by far one of the best evening light entertainment program in the 90's.

You might not like him but he is exceptionally good at what he does.

It's not his presenting skills that should be questioned, it's the BBC's insistance that top gear should remain exactly the same in format thats causing the problem. Given time, assuming Evans isn't used as a scape ghoat by the BC, Evans will adapt his style to suit and might be given a little more freedon by the BBC to come up with his own ideas for the show.

The second show was bar far better and had he been taking over from Angela Rippon every body would be crowing about how good it was.

As good as he was on it, top gear should not equal clerkson.

Doesn't sem long ago that people were moaning about Clerkson et al and how the program had deterioated into nothing but an excuse for three men living the life at the tax payers expense, with casual xenophobia and racism. Even the road trips had gone down the swanny and were so fake and forced, the South African road trip was good again.

Another good option would be James Martin, he can already multi task, seeing as he presented Saturday Kitchen for years, plus he's a petrol head, not remotely annoying...and makes good grub...erm bonus cookery segment. lol.

Sad

RE: Top Gear
I liked last nights show - much better than the first one, was that because less studio time and more films? Missed most of Star etc.

One thought struck me though how many of these films had Clarkson and co down to do originally? The Top Gun one would have taken a long time to set up with the US DoD and seems a lot like a Clarkson film - military based / fast jets etc CE never struck me as someone that interested in that kinda stuff and the SA one too if you translate James May for Eddie Jordan.

I've never liked Evan's presenting style - he seemed to epitomise all that was wrong for 90's TV for me.

I was no particular fan of Clarkson either but you have to admit that he and Wilman made the show watchable again and the phenomenon that TG became in recent years.

Yes Evans has made a (national) success of what he has done in the past but the real problem I have with the new TG is it gives all the appearance that Evans is a one trick pony stuck in the television of 20 years ago. So this is old TG with the chemistry removed and with the carbuncle that is 90's Evans grafted on to it... And is it really the BBC have insisted that the format stay so rigid to the old one or is it that no-one could come up with much that they thought would improve it? What is a "creative lead" for if not that?!

Notice that Evans used the overnights' audience share figures to defend last week's overnights but doesn't care to mention them this week for some reason... Tonguebladewave

So apart from all the complaints; you're all enjoying the new show then...?? he he.

Didn't even bother to turn on the second show; the first one killed it for me. Always been a fan of Sabine as she's proof us girls can drive fast too; along with Susie Wolff et al; but never liked Le Blanc, Jordan, or Chris too much; except for in parts on TFI.

Joining the side that says "Bin it!!" therefore...... ;o)

I never sit on the fence. I prefer to drop kick it out the way instead! Could possibly be a big fan of wankspangling?

More the realistic. Can you deny the points I have made about him?

The first point is just personal preference, but the second point is where both he and BBC have to change.

Clearkson seems to have a style but it suited the program, could he present TFI friday? Difference being, Chris Evens should be able to calm down; only time will tell.

Benefit of the doubt for the moment.

As a side, what the hell was wrong with 90's TV? Twin Peaks, Buffy, Angel, XFiles, cardiac arrest, teletubbies.

You seem to notice only what you want to notice. There are hundreds, if not thousands of posts and threads on this site, I actually agree with, or have no opnion about, the vast majority of posts/threads. You're a mod, check out my posts.

When I do make posts, it tends to be when I see post after post of something i don't think is quite fair or right. If I didn't like Chris Evans, I would see no point in putting a post saying how bad he is again, but i will think, hang on, the bloke is actually good at what he does, even if you don't like him. I personally don't like Sean Penn, but I wounld't say how rubbish he is and it's the reason a particular film is terrible, there could be many other factors involved, as well as his acting.

Personally, I can't see why that is a problem, to me, it seems a problem with those can't seem to accept a different viewpoint - or at least from me any way.

As far as I am aware, I don't see eye to eye with some opnions on the doctor who, Europe and now this thread (again, check out my posts). It's not like i'm some massive trouble causer trying to start arguments on every post there is (even if there are poeple on here who try and make it seem that way); it's just an opinion and not all opnions agree.
