RE: Europe..IN or OUT??
Will any form of Brexit ever happen? We may never trigger article 50 if no reasonable deal for our exit can be negotiated. Article 50 will only be triggered once we know how, what, why and what the consequences are - this will require further democratic legitimisation, i.e. another vote.

If you seriously think that an elected government cannot undo what has been done before then why the hell do we have elections? By your flawed logic no decision could ever be changed by a subsequent government.

I said right from the get go I'm apolitical and know nothing much about politics, how many more times do I have to repeat that before you understand that?

You should stop trying to be a silent majority mini me in trying to belittle people and realise I'm throwing around ideas. You, as with others, also need to understand what I am ACTUALLY saying, this is a classic example of how completely opposite you have got it.

I never said they couldn't undo what the previous government did (I have absolutely no idea where you get this from), my point was nothing to do with that at all, in fact, that is EXACTLY the point I was making that a new gvernment can over turn a decission the majority of the British people want, BUT in reality there may be less people making that decision who want to remain than who want to leave in the general public.

I'll repeat, a general election draws much less voters than the referendum, people felt way more stronly about that then they do voting for their own government, and votes will be spread throughout SEVERAL parties, it's not just a yes no vote in general elections.

Negotiations can only start once Article 50 is triggered.

The Eu has to vote to allow the UK to leave, but it sounds like they want to get on with it.

No they don't. They vote on the terms. They have no ability to stop us leaving.

I'll ignore the insult to Silent Majority (I'm sure he's mortified at the thought of having a mini me)

No problem with anyone throwing around ideas as surely that's the joy of a forum. I also enjoy the debates with people who have diverse political opinions.

You say that a number of us need to understand what you are actually saying. Well the problem is that we are reading what you are actually writing and commenting on it. If what you are actually saying is not what you are actually meaning then I have the suspicion that what would help you and the rest of us if you you took a little more care. Maybe read back what you have written? I always do.

One technique I've often used in my professional life is to put myself in the other persons shoes and ask how will they read this. Am I being clear enough? What response am I likely to get. Am I factually correct? If it's my opinion have I made that clear?

Wackawoo I sincerely do hope that this helps.

PS if you are apolitical (not interested or involved in politics) you do seem to like this threadBig Grin

All the best

They still have to vote, that can block the UK leaving if the UK doesn't get the right terms, thats why it can take 2 years or many years.

Oh dear. Let me try to help. Article 50 is the formal way to commence Leave negotiations. That has a time limit of 2 years. It could be concluded earlier or with all 27 remaining countries agreement it could be extended. If they don't agree to extend the time limit and we have not agreed terms within 2 years then that's it. We are out without even the benefit of a divorce agreement.
