The recent Boris statements on there being very little change should be taken with a pinch of salt, he is really honour bound to go ahead with a full Brexit, believes it it anyway and couldn't bring himself to betray voters on that kind of scale.

Boris is a damn sight closer to power and effecting negotiations than mouthpiece Farage will ever be. Farage and all fringe politicians can pretty much say as they please because they will never be asked to back it up with action.

Now we are nearing the business end of this thing we are seeing the difference between campaigning and actual politics in Boris' words. Farage meanwhile continues to play to the media and court public attention. Who's words should we pay more attention to at this stage?

The Liberal Democrats say more than 10,000 people have applied to join the party since they promised to fight the next election on the basis of cancelling or reversing Brexit.

IMO any new deal with the EU will end up being not quite as good for our trade as it is currently. We may well have to give concessions in other areas in order to maintain a decent trade deal.

Most definitely the leave campaign played on peoples' fears and are now exhibiting some reluctance in providing the policies to ease those fears. The Project Fear label could in fact have been applied to either side in the campaign, the Leavers just got in first with using the title.

Boris implied that the margin of victory was small not I. (Although I maintain it was relatively small as these things go.)

I think Boris didn't reckon on Cameron resigning straight after the vote. He was intent on a longer game, hoping to take up the reigns at the end of the second term as per the PM's original timetable. As the Americans say ( Wink ) this really "threw him a curve" as highlighted by his lack of any actual plans for what to do at this point.

One last point arising from what you say: If Farage has the nation's interests to the fore why did he feel the need to be so blunt to the EU in the full media spotlight yesterday? If you were the EU and Farage came to your house shouting the odds would you be inclined to be hospitable to the rest of his family when they came calling in a couple of weeks time?! The guy's certainly not overly concerned with diplomacy is he. Rolleyes

Seems like the message in Brussels today was access to the single market will only be given if there is freedom of movement and Sturgeon can go away because when the UK leave so do Scotland. As expected Spain were particularly strong about this.

RE: Europe..IN or OUT??
Some EU countries expressed sympathy for Scotland today, but predictably Spain refused to cooperate, knowing they could face problems with Catalonia. They said the EU couldn't and shouldn't negotiate with Scotland, so there doesn't appear to be any way that the Scottish government can turn that around, although they appear not to have given up as yet.

So, the world has not ended yet, Spain is telling people to calm down the UK is still part of the EU thus far, the markets are awash with green.

What is all this with the Labour party? why are they all resigning and why are they all calling for their leaders blood, haven't they just elected him?

And they would be right. Some EU countries are looking to try an isolate England.

Farage can whistle, from what I saw of him he looked throughly deluded as if he thought he had or could have some power and it was his victory.
