The Changeling(1980)
George C.Scott,Melyvin Douglas and Trish Van Devere are all put in excellent performances in Peter Medak's shivery ghosty story set in Seattle. The film has an extra unsettling element to it,as it is supposedly based on the actual experiences of screenwriter Russell Hunter, when he lived in an old mansion in Denver,Colorado.

The Iceman(2012)
Ariel Vromen directs this so called fact based drama about Richard Kuklinski,a serial killer turned Maffia hitman.Vromen succeeds in creating an incredibly accurate vision of 1970s New Jersey(the film follows Kuklinski's life from the 50s to the 80s but the majority of the film is set in the 70s)but there are many things the director chose not to focus on,including Kuklinski's terrible childhood and the killing of Roy DeMeo which in reality,Kuklinski thought about doing for seven years. The violence he inflicted on his own wife and his unpredictable mood swings. The slayings of his victims are also toned down when compared to the Kuklinski confessions and the excellent book by Phillip Carlo, ultimately though its the amazing central performance from Michael Shannon who really captures the juxtaposition of Kuklinski's life as a family man and a stone cold killer. It tries to be Goodfellas for a new generation but doesn't quite make it.

The Lodger(1926)
Matinée idol Ivor Novello is Jack the Ripper in this early Hitchcock effort. One of the highlights of this silent movie is the famous glass ceiling/floor that shows the lodger pacing in his room.
