My friends are of the opinion that Greek Street it is for the Casbah
So what are your feelings

Your images have been very helpful. Thank you!

Having studied the original picture some more, and compared it carefully to your pictures, my feeling is that it's Greek Street.

Please tell your friends I'm in agreement with them!

Work has begun on the redevelopment, my original post related to your poster of the club, somewhere else on the site are two pieces of corrugated iron with your poster split in two. These posters must be at least 40 years old

Good work Kev. I can see on your attachment the words "body revue" and that means the poster could be as old as 1972, as that was when the Casino de Paris began using that name for their shows. This is an advert which ran at the time in the What's On In London magazine.

Hi Marlowe,
At the weekend if the weather is good I shall be back in Soho with my camera. Purpose of my visit is one of my friends would like some there and now images, so I shall be doing the now side.
Walker’s Court is back on the list, since m original posting re-development work has begun, and because of this it is difficult to photograph but if the weather is nice and I am there before 08:30 I can get some images and with luck the Casino De Paris split between two pieces of corrugated steel.
I will post some on this side of things when completed.

I can contribute a nugget of information here, by supplying the street number. In the 1970s and 80s there was a Playboy Cinema at 28 Wardour Street and I think I'm right in saying that the Playboy Striptease Club was at the same address, prior to it becoming a cinema.

It will be good if you can get a picture of that, bearing in mind how long it must have been there and also that the Walker's Court redevelopment is now going to remove it. It's amazing that these posters have lasted such a long time, so it will be well worth getting a picture for posterity.

Thanks for filling in a gap in my information and I agree with your reasoning. I've also managed to work out that The Venus Rooms of Old Compton Street was either number 36 or 46, so all working together we're plugging these holes one by one. Incidentally, next to the Playboy Club was Miss Candy’s Photo Studio, where a selection of nude girls were available to be photographed.

You are correct it was Jack’s Bar.

I need to report an error! I've just realised that the address we were referring to, 32 Goodge Street, used to be the Capricorn Club and not Jacks as we both said. The clubs were very close together, and that always made it easy to mix them up, but the Capricorn I'm sure was at 32 and Jacks was at 38 Goodge Street.

As well as the many hardcore cinemas that used to be in Soho, let's give a mention to the Astral and the Moulin which for many years showed softcore films. They outlasted most sex establishments in the area by a long time and I think both deserve to be classed as Soho institutions.
