RE: Soho sleaze and striptease
Hello,
I visited Soho today with the intention of shooting lots of images but the light was bad so this is my meagre offering, I have to segregate the areas posted by locations.
Walkers Court,
The rebuilding work has begun in earnest and the original posters for the Casino De Paris is gone but one still remains see details below
Image 3 Is the bricking up of the former shopfronts, these were until two weeks ago covered in corrugated Iron
Image 2 Is the only Casino De Paris image left
Image 1 Is Walkers Court from Rupert Street and a sorry sight it looks

Beak Street Murray’s Cabaret Club
Today Helen and Jimmy O’Brien’s club is a burger bar, but I thought well it may rekindle some memories so hope you enjoy

You are correct it was Jack’s Bar.

I need to report an error! I've just realised that the address we were referring to, 32 Goodge Street, used to be the Capricorn Club and not Jacks as we both said. The clubs were very close together, and that always made it easy to mix them up, but the Capricorn I'm sure was at 32 and Jacks was at 38 Goodge Street.

Hi Elgar
On my way back photographed 38 and 32 Goodge Street as they are today see attached.
Have spoken to my friend he remember Jack’s Bar and the Capricorn but had forgotten about the Capricorn till you mentioned, it was at this bar Angela danced

Hi,
Some sad news, on my way back home from Soho, I was in Foubert’s Place and back in the day there was a disco on the site of the MAC makeup shop. It had topless GoGo Dancers but during the week it also had known name dance troupes working the rounds, it was there I saw The Second Generation, lead dancer was Wei Wei Wong. When I got home looked her up to find she had passed away in 1999 from cancer. To anyone interested the link below is a clip of her back in the day, no topless just good dancing.

I'm not sure when the Capricorn started, but I suspect it was around in the early 70s if not before. It was certainly long running, as it didn't close until November 2009 when it was raided by the police. The year before that Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones was said by the press to have visited the club.

Hello Snooper

It was in the day Foubert's Nightclub I think then moved on to other names with the connection to Fouberts see link below
http://www.carnabyechoes.com/map/fouberts-club.html

It was a few minutes walk from La Valbonne with its spa pool, while it did not attract the same profile guests it was a fun place in its day

I agree with that. I've also found some impressions of what it should look like when it's finished and to me it's still a sorry sight!

The first image, like yours, is Walker's Court from Rupert Street.
Second, Walker's Court looking towards the Peter Street end.
Third, Walker's Court looking towards the Brewer Street end.
Finally, the fourth image is Walker's Court from Berwick Street.

I noticed on the last image the "New Boulevard Theatre" and it isn't where it used to be at 7 Walker's Court, which led to the upstairs floor of the Raymond Revuebar. The proposed new theatre is pictured at 27 Peter Street, which fairly recently was Harmony sex shop.

Hi Phil,
It looks completely sterile, typical offices and lip service paid to the Boulevard Theatre.
Notice the plans show a Co-op probably in the background a Costa and a Nero with a Starbucks to the side
Really is disappointing if it turns out like that

I've managed to find a picture! Although I'm not sure how helpful it is.
