Theresa May has decided to belatedly jump on this bandwagon, blaming the Russians for destabilising elections in Europe. You know, because Merkel... won, and Macron... won, and so on.

The Russians naturally wonder why it's taken her 5 months to find someone new to blame for her own galloping inadequacies:

Wouldn't you know, the papers today claim there's proof undeniable that the Russians DID use "state-sponsored hacking" to swing the vote.

This of course is the paradox - the papers want to continue the narrative that the Russians are evil hackers, but at the same time, pretend that they didn't sway the vote for Leave so as not to justify altering the result

And for good measure, the Spanish PM is blaming the Russians for how Madrid got painted as evil during the Catalan referendum What next, the DUP claiming the Russians are behind Sinn Fein? Nicola Sturgeon reckoning the Russians blew the Indyref thing (Alex Salmond starting his own ego-trip show on RT this week too)?

It was reported this week that a Russian controlled account which also was used in the US election sent out a picture during one of the London terrorist attacks of a Muslim woman ignoring a body on the ground and walking past. THE FACTS as reported elsewhere at the time were that like hundred of other people she was rushing to safety and shielding her eyes as others did from the horror. It was a nasty attempt by Russian controlled resources to sow anti-muslim feelings.

Yeah, I read that too. It's amazing how the reaction it provoked when reported gleefully is ignored/excused now.

I just find the whole RSSH angle to be too convenient to be true. Take the Spanish example - do you believe the Catalans are in fact being supported by the Russians to destabilise Europe, or have they been hankering (ooh) for their independence for decades?

I think the Russian thing is that it's impossible to say that what they are doing actually changes results in elections BUT there seems to be evidence around Europe and the USA that they are seeking to destabilise democratic governments by stirring up discontent. I saw yesterday that they had claimed the USA were helping ISIL and showed a video saying it was of US forces helping ISIL forces to escape (in Syria I believe). Didn't take long for someone to identify the video as being from a computer game! Oh and the claim had come from the Russian Defense Department
