Apparently Trump knew for weeks about the latest controversy and the attorney general he removed from office had warned him about it.

New president same old corruption and lack of action

I think he needs to ramp it up a bit...take the gloves off, invade somewhere...just like all the others, then he will get a 2nd term

Trump had the chance to try for a fresh start with the media after the inauguration, and the best he could do was start a ridiculous argument about the size of the crowd.
I don't think he really wanted fair treatment from the press because it suited him to play the anti-establishment outsider. It might be starting to wear him down now though. Or if not him, then some of the people around him.

Again, why should he want a fresh start with the media when he knows they're lying scum (and yes, perhaps it takes one to know one)?

I reckon even if he was impeached before the summer I guess there is enough support in the Senate that would enable him to remain in office, but whether they are even wavering in there support now and likely willing to go against him it would be a sensational story

Because he's not campaigning any more, that jobs done.
If he's half as smart as he says he is, he would realise it will be easier to get the next job of being President done, if the media were less against him.
