Obama's approval ratings were good during the election campaign to see who succeeded him. The last ones published put him on 59% which is pretty solid, considering that the average approval rating for US presidents when they leave office is just 50%. In fact of the 12 US presidents since the second world war, only 2 have left office with a higher approval rating than Obama.

Obama did alright and would have done better except the Senate couldn't take seeing a black president succeed

Given that he was the first black president, those extra 9% could easily be put down to that. I suspect if he was white that rating would be lower.

It also means 41% didn't approve, but no doubt they were all racist any way.

Ultimately he did nothing more than an average type of a job, nothing especially bad, bad nothing outstandingly good either and was especially hostile to Americas closest ally, not the brightest thing.
