Am I correct in understanding that this hysteria over hacking (to whit there is no evidance) came from wiki leaks?

There have been a few controversial US presidential elections but this is the first that has had outside help

The two cyber groups who hacked the Democratic Party handed all the hacked documents over to WikiLeaks. So yes it was WikiLeaks which actually published the documents.

I thought WikiLeaks proved that the CIA could hack just as much, if not more, than the Russians, and could blame it on other countries, such as Russia?

You thought wrong.

The hacking method supposedly revealed by WikiLeaks in which a hacker could frame someone else for a hack was a method already publicly known and available.

Those people who engage in serious hacking have known where to find these 'framing' tools for a long time. They certainly existed in 2012.

Forensic investigations into hacking already check for the possibility that the hackers tried to make the attack look like it came from another source.

I was reading something last week that was saying that the whole CIA stuff was really just old news, with most of the vulnerabilities being exploited having already been fixed (hence there was some derision at Julian Assange's offer to help them).
It said that the computer security community were barely interested in the detail about the actual hacking tools and expolits, the real news being the fact that the CIA left themselves open to having these tools exposed in this way.

It's not so much the content of the leak, but the leak itself that is embarrassing.

Don't you just love that conspiracy theories are only conspiracy theories if they're other people's conspiracy theories
