The Met reacted quickly to this one and some members of the public helped with the first aid and even fending the attackers away with bottles and chairs.

We shouldn't over react and place civil liberties at risk again that is what these murderers want us to do change our way of life, a full and proper investigation is required and any one that supported the murderers needs a long sentence in top security prisons.

I have no doubt that "lessons will be learned" as they always seem to be...and then it will happen again and again and the pile of bodies will just keep getting higher.

I've always said there will never be any real action taken until these loonies get hold of some serious weaponry and a large city becomes uninhabitable for a few hundred/thousand years. Then watch the backlash....

The main aims of any terrorism are:

• To strike fear, panic and/or trepidation into the minds of the public.
• To disrupt the everyday lives of the general populous by creating conditions where normal behaviours cannot continue.
• To precipitate political change based on the need to alleviate the first two.
  

That's why to my mind the lastest change.org petition to have the general election postponed and other natural but emotionally charged calls for radical actions are so misguided. You are playing into the terrorists' aims by taking up such positions.

Unfortunately you cannot kill or deport an idea. Any extremism is bred in ignorance. You can only eliminate it through education and alleviating the social conditions that allow it to fester. The focus must be cutting it off at the root otherwise you are just dealing with symptoms and actions have the likehood of proving counter-productive in the long run.

I'm really familiar with that area. I used to work there. I drink in the Wheatsheaf pub outside of which there are photos of a terrorist body. I'm due in the area for drinks and dinner this coming week and I will be going as I've done through the days of the IRA bombs, the 7/7 attacks etc in London. No terrorist can be allowed to drive us from our way of life.

Lets just be clear though - these people claim to be doing it in a religious cause. That's utter rubbish and we must continue to support our muslim friends.

I find it odd that they were wearing fake bomb vests, and trying work out the reasoning.

Was it to stop the general public from attacking them or to show solidarity with the Manchester bomber. Or was it just to make sure that they weren't to be taken alive.

Fake bomb vests would make members of the public & unarmed Police think twice about having a go.
